First timer
I thought the course was in excellent shape. Some the nicest fairways and greens I've played on. The facilities are in need of a facelift and hope they can preserve this old course.
Great Bang for the Buck Just Outside the City
We had a fabulous time at Elk River GC today. Corey in the clubhouse was incredibly helpful making sure we complied with all COVID restrictions and was altogether very kind. The practice facilities were open and properly socially distanced, which was really nice too.
As for the course, it was really in fantastic shape across the board. Hardly a patch of winter burn to be found, and the rough around the greens came in nicely, which I’ve found rare around the state this year. My only gripe about the layout was that there were a few pin positions that truly felt unfair, as they were cut into a couple side hills. Altogether though, fantastic track.
As a bonus, great pace of play for a public course on the weekend. I think we finished in just under 4 hours! Loved it and can’t wait to get back.
Challenging but fair. Small but true greens.
Great course for the money. Small elevated greens make this course a challenge. However, players with good short games can score. The greens are true and fast. Every hole is unique and has character. All around enjoyable course.
Good layout, Tough greens
What makes this course tough is the small, quick greens. If you hit a green in regulation it is no guarantee that you will make par. Course has about 3-4 soft boggy fairways but overall a good layout.
Elk River
Greens were excellent--very quick.
Nice course for the price
Played this course for the first time using a Hot Deal bargain in Golf Now. Course was in really good condition. Good course for all level of players. Greens are small which means you just need to make better shots. Will play again and recommend to others.
Good course
Fun course. Tree lined, so sprays will create additional strokes. No sand traps but Pinehurst type greens. Elevated with easy roll off. Will play again when opportunity arises.
Worst Course I have ever played
This course was in absolute terrible condition. The greens were fried out and rolled inconsistently. Also the greens did not hold a golf ball. Fairways had mounds in them and were also dried out. Rough has definitely not been cut this year. Also service in they pro-shop was terrible. Overall never play this course.
Great course but poor carts
The course was a great shape. There were a few leaves on the ground but overall it was a great Oct round. The carts are awful at best.
small fast greens
Challenging course with small turtle back fast greens but fairly wide open off the tee box .
Great course that offers challenges
It is a nice course for any type of player. The course was very wet but playable.
Great Experience
Very accommodating and friendly staff. Set me up with two members: John and Mikey. Two very friendly guys, guided me around; and shared their pitcher of beer with me when we finished the round. Very friendly atmosphere..
Fairways in good condition. Greens fast and challenging. Overall, a dry enjoyable morning.
great course
I like the course a lot. It will challenge you to shots from all types of lies and to use your creativity on chipping and pitching. The greens roll great too.
Nice course with small greens make it challenging
Good value for the money. Small greens makes the golf course more challenging than it's look like on the paper.
Some tough greens
The layout of the golf course is pretty challenging and fun with lots of uphill and downhill shots and tree lined fairways. Being in the fairway is a must because you need every advantage you can when hitting into the greens. They are small with sides that are shaved and balls will run right off if you miss. That can be frustrating but if you can get it on, the putts will roll pretty true. Overall, its a challenge and a fun layout.
Unique and Challenging Track
ERCC is always a challenge. Typically windy, many shorter approach shots that are very tough despite close yardage due to the turtle-back greens. No green is very large, which makes you really focus on the short game. Very fun course, always a good time, good challenge and pretty good value.
Over rated course for the money
My experience with Golf now was outstanding. Elk River CC is over rated for their standard green fee rates. Thankfully I went on a "hot deal" rate. It's definitely a buck a hole course. No more.
Some tee boxes were rough and very unlevel, the 1st 150 yds. of alot of fairways were like a farmer's plowed field with grass growing on them. Remainder of the fairways were in fair condition. Bunkers looked like trash, sloppy deep sand with dirt and grass clippings, no one seemed to care about raking in their last shot. The greens; they were all in surprisingly good putting condition, butt they are the smallest greens I've ever seen. You have zero forgiveness on your approach shots. If you can't stop it on a dime from 150 it could be a frustrating day. The last par 3 is the dumbest hole to navigate I've ever seen, no cart path up to the hole, no signs directing you to the next hole, you have to backtrack down the fairway cut diagonally across it to get to the next tee box. Which happens to be right beside the par 3 tee box. The group behind us was ready to shoot, but had to wait as we drove across the fairway. Overall opinion, spend a couple dollars more, and you can play a half dozen courses in the NW metro that are much better and more enjoyable. I recommend Monticello CC or Cedar Creek in Albertville.
