Spring golf is always kind of iffy in Minnesota. Monticello Country Club was open and allowing gas carts on the course. I was pleasantly surprise about the shape of the course. If was fairly dry and the greens were rolling very fast. Pace of play was a little slow, but expected on one of the first "nice" days of the year. I would definitely give this course another try early next year.
The course was in great condition and was priced very reasonably. Pace of play was not an issue as my wife and I played a standard 4 hour round. A couple minor complaints would be that the scorecard map doesn't indicate hazards and a couple yardages on par 3's seemed suspect (played the tips). Will definitely be back.
"monti" is a very well maintained course with challenges and a great staff, it is not super busy so you have a less stressful round of golf, I highly recommend this course
waited on 12 holes because play was slow
people behind us hit into us 3 times
the golf course staff was really nice
the course was in good shape
greens a little slow
took 5 hours
it was our first time playing this course and I was very impressed. It was a very nice layout with some easy and some very challenging holes.
Got paired up with another couple and had a great day.
good shape, slow play
had to wait on tee a lot. Ranger came after 15 holes to check.
Excellent value, great club pro
I played as a single the first nine played quickly. On the second nine, there were two foursomes and a five some that were extremely slow. I finally had to quit after four holes because there was no indication I completed through and these groups are taken 25 minutes per hole to play.
Unfortunately, there wasn't a Ranger on the course encouraging groups to play faster. However, the staff is extremely courteous and competent and this is the first time slow play has caused me to have to quit after 13 moles.
always in good shape
this course has consistently been in really good shape
it is well taken care of
Christy , in the pro shop, runs a very nice golf club
always an enjoyable golf outing
Excellent value, great club pro
I play Monticello several times a year and the course was in good shape considering the difficult winter and spring. The staff was friendly and the head pro exceptionally friendly and helpful. Excellent value and a short commute from the western suburbs.
Best course in Central Minnesota between Twin Cities and Brainerd!
Best in Central Minnesota
Monticello is a very fine golf experience, a real jewel of a course between the Twin Cities and the Brainerd resort area.
I was really worried about booking a tee time so far away from the city specially because of my name Muhammad, but the staff was very kind and friendly. I had a wonderful time and the course condition was 5 stars all the way. The greens are so beautiful and roll so true, just in excellent condition. Thanks so much to the grounds crew. I will be coming back here. Thanks for such a wonderful time.
Pace of play was slow. Course was in good shape for early in the year. The greens were not very receptive. Greens very hard.
The death march
I know the course well and it sometimes plays slow but Sunday was ridiculous, 5 HOURS and 10 MINUTES!!!!!!!! Perfect weather, no wind, why does it move so slow??? Where is the RANGER?
Not going back until they get a ranger out there.
The most important change I have noted since last year is the friendliness of the staff. The head pro has always been friendly and helpful. This seems to be rubbing off on the clubhouse staff as well. Makes for an enjoyable experience.
