Terrible greens
I've played the Meadows a few times this year and have been somewhat disappointed in the quality of the greens each time, but this latest visit was the worst. Greens were not only "fuzzy" and slow (needed to be cut) but the number of unrepaired divots and marks on the green made for guaranteed erratic ball roll on almost every putt. This isn't something I would even normally notice but it wa kks really bad. I probably repaired at least 3-4 divots on every green, and those were just in the areas where I was standing while.waitinf for others to putt.
This course is beautiful and otherwise excellent. It deserves better, more challenging (firmer) greens which are better cared for.

Food
We arrived for a 1218 tee time and they ran out of buns, so they had no burgers. The wraps were terrible, and the cart girl showed up on the back 9 for one hole. Not impressive.
Opening day
Wow. What a beautiful course. Great layout and will test all parts of your game.
Meadows @ Mystic Lake
Nice range not well marked for distance. Nice carts with chargers and GPS. Nicely groomed. Very nice greens that are challenging and undulating. Chipping areas and approaches around greens excellent. Level tee boxes. Greens a little beat up consistent with public course. Well placed bunkers with uniform sand that are well drained. While there is a lot to like not the least of which is the setting, there we significant negatives. The course seems over designed leading to tee box carry distances over hazards that are unnecessarily long, one par three is adjacent to a parking lot without protective fencing, and too many blind approach and second shots. Finally, on approach to 18, in front of approach water hazard, there are four or so drainage grates at least three feet round that can easily eat balls, as they did mine after flushing a beautiful five iron. Don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful course just not a gem. To enjoy it, you have to play it often. A gem captures you at first tee and captivates you through eighteen. Would play again but there is a lot of great public golf in Twin Cities for this course to compete with.
Mystic Meadows
Very solid golf course. Fairway conditions were consistent and the rough was light to aid off center drives. Ample fairways allows for a golfer to plod their way around the tract. Greens were fast and aprons permitted putting around the green en lieu of the typical chip. Staff was very friendly and pace of play ways inside 4 hours. Almost worth the green fees., which were a bit steep for mid September.
Price for condition
They raised their rates a few years ago. They put in white sand in bunkers. The bunkers are ok it's the condition of the greens from the first green. For the price greens should not have dead spots repair areas that are not marked under repair
Meadows at Mistake lake
They had pimped out golf carts so that was fun. Overall great layout, challenging if you are not in the fairway. Greens were a disappointment not in great shape for the $$$$ green fee paid, some dead areas. Nice bunker fill.
Beautiful course
We played this course during COVID19 restrictions so the pro shop was closed and there were no on course amenities. Beyond that the course was well designed and I thought it was a great layout. The greens and bunkers were well maintained as well. I would definitely play this course again.
Great except the cart path rule
Everything about the course was great except the day I played was cart path only - which made for an extremely long round considering the cart paths are nowhere near where you want your ball to be on the fairway. So, if you hit a good drive you have to walk 80 yards to your ball and bring 3 clubs with every time. This is understandable when a course is drenched, but it was as dry as could be. It rained the night before and we didn't tee off until 3:00. Even the starter said they were going to start allowing the 90 degree rule soon and they never did. Part of what you pay for at a course like this is the GPS in the cart, but when you can't drive anywhere near your ball without the cart shutting down, it's worthless.
A Pleasure to Play
Simple as that, it’s a pleasure to play. Water, elevation, bunkers, amazing greens, and friendly staff. The major complaint has been pace, and I confirmed today with staff that they are now spacing tee times by 15 minutes, which should alleviate any issues in that department. Amazing carts, and you can gamble, eat and drink to your hearts desire right after the round.
Enjoyed the first round
We had 3 in our group and each took their own cart. We tee’d off at 3:15 and we finished in under 4 hours which was awesome. Great golf carts. Good service out on the course. Course layout is good and we decided to play the white tees which is kind of fun to do the first time out anywhere, but I will play the blues next time. Fun course! Some challenging shots and pretty fair off the tee. One ridiculous pin placement - but other than that it was great.. A late tee time plus a room at the hotel could be fun; 18 holes, take a break and relax in the room, Grab some dinner and hit the casino? Could be fun.
Great test!
Having played this course before I was not disappointed. Amazing condition, great layout and the carts are awesome!
Only negative was slow on the back waiting on most shots.
Slow, slow, slow
I have played this beautiful course a number of times. I was reluctant to play again because it is notoriously slow. Today was exceptionally bad. An hour and a half to play 4 holes is extremely poor course management. Ranger told us we could get a refund. But in the club house they insisted that that everyone went off at 10 minute intervals and the were no significant gaps between players.
Do the math, that story doesn't add up any way you look at it. NO REFUND! Only a raincheck that expires December 31st. It's middle of September n Minnesota!!!
No sympathy, no customer service, no excuses!
Raincheck for sale - CHEAP!!
If you like the view, enjoy the course. If you like golf, go somewhere else!!
Definitely was worth the trip and wait
My wife and I arrived at the Meadows at Mystic Lake on Wednesday afternoon, August 9, to begin our tour of the upper midwest states and it was raining very steadily. The staff was so very nice to us as we reviewed the weather status and there was no way we were getting out that day. The next day they were totally booked with an outing but told us we could be first off at 6:50 am on Friday.
Friday morning, very early, we arrived at the course and there was our cart already loaded with our clubs to begin the day. The best carts we have been in for a very long time. Off we went to play this challenging course which even after the rain the past two days was still in immaculate condition. The greens were very quick even though I expected a little slowness due the rain and early morning start (afternoon and dry they must be very fast). Some nice gentle elevation changes throughout the round but nothing extreme. Every thing about the course was fantastic. Lots of water and bunkers to go in and high meadows grass if you are not straight.
While we did not put forth our best exhibition of golf this morning this is a course we are glad we picked to play. Just beautiful surroundings and great conditions. The staff was excellent in everything they did for us and the maintenance guys have to be great to keep this course looking like it did.
The course is attached to the Mystic Lake Casino/Hotel, where is where we stayed , played and ate for two nights before finally getting the chance to play the course. Everything was as good in the hotel/casino as it was on the Meadows. Thanks for a fun few days.
Great Course with lots of challenging shots
Played this course during the Ryder Cup weekend. It was fairly busy but we had an 8am tee time and wrapped up 18 in just over 3.5 hours. Great Pace. Course was in fantastic condition. Lots of sand traps throughout the 18. Makes for some great play options. We would recommend playing this course to anyone and we would love to play it again.
