Love the new staff and improved conditions
Was pleasantly surprised by the friendly new staff and course conditions were good for early spring. Can tell they care about this place again. Look forward to returning many times this season. Great value and fun layout.
Great track
Love the course, tough in places but great layout. Staff was great!
Love this Golf Course!
I absolutely love this golf course. Great price with a challenging enough and very fun course to play!!
Stillwater oaks golf
I have played here in the past and seems every year same thing over and over, this course not only over books but constantly has players showing up late then they slip those golfers in just happens to end up being your tee time l, there is little to no sand in the bunkers and what is there is horrible. They are always understaffed the fairways never appear to be cut with sharp blades and the course doesn't drain very soggy areas even when there hasn't been rain for awhile. The trees are over grown and there are multiple holes with sticks twigs and other debris on the greens. Decided this last time I would stop in at the turn to grab a bite to eat and also in hopes that might create some sort of space in between their overbook tee times seeing how the group that was late took our tee time and ordered a "cheeseburger" turned out to be a $5.75 microwaved burger with a cold piece of cheese on it, I would have choose a brat but they only had one and the guy I was golfing with got it. I would not recommend this course to anyone I considered a friend or to anyone at all. And if you want to walk the course have fun with that long green to tee walks on most of course. Good luck in the future Stillwater oaks a lot of other courses close by you for the same price.
Fun Course!
Played this course as part of The Public Country Club and couldn't be happier. Its a fun track with a good mix of holes!
Great Course
Played here early in the season. Challenging for early swings. Definitely go back mid season.
Great day
Was great to play my first round of the year at a wonderful course. The course was in great shape.
Stillwater Oaks
Great value! If you have not played here lately, you should. Great course, great shape and very challenging.
Great Value
Challenging layout, beautiful location and great rates
Pace of Play Problem
Everything as expected except pace of play. They let a five-some go ahead of us. They were all seniors and walking and wouldn't allow us to play through. One of our four-some had to quit after 9 holes because of a previous commitment although with a normal 4 hour round he would have been able to play 18. We didn't finish our round until almost 5 hours after our scheduled tee time. Brought our complaint up about allowing five-somes of seniors walking on the course without at least telling them they should allow people to play through them if they were holding up play. No sympathy by the pro and he said our time was close to acceptable industry standards. We said we disagreed for an 11 am tee time on a Tuesday.
Have played the course several times previously and usually like it.
Needs lots of work.
The course was in bad shape. They were digging trenches throughout the course and there was no sand in most of the bunkers. They said they were cutting back on bunkers so they let them go to waste. The greens were fast but fair with lots of undulation on most of them. Tough course for a first visit and no guide. There were caverns to one side of the fairways that you cannot see and are not displayed anywhere. I got a great rate so that was the saving grace for this course. The people were friendly.
A Little Gem of a Course
I play Stillwater Oaks Golf Course several times a year, and had been concerned that the course had deteriorated since the time when it was called Sawmill Golf Club and under different management. However, during my most recent round course conditions seemed to have improved quite a bit. The greens, which had looked like moonscapes from all the unrepaired ball marks, were healthy, smooth, and reasonably fast. A few tee boxes still had many unrepaired divots, but others looked quite good. Fairways were also in reasonably good condition. All of this is welcome news, because Stillwater Oaks is a little gem of a layout. Rolling fairways, subtly contoured greens, and significant elevation changes make the course fun to play. Trees play a significant role in the challenges facing golfers. On the first hole, a par 5, a cottonwood stands in the middle of the first fairway about 260 yards from the back tees. If your tee shot is too far back from the tree, you'll have to rely on a draw or fade to get past the tree and find the fairway for your third shot. The 12th hole, a par 4 with a slight dogleg, measures 288 yards from the middle tees. Longer hitters may be tempted to go straight for the green, but another huge cottonwood guards the bend and catches the shots of most who try. Probably the prettiest hole at Stillwater Oaks is the 5th, a par 3. There are two sets of tees, one of which is set on a bluff about 60 or 70 feet above the level of the green. Your tee shot must go through a narrow chute of trees and carry 130 or so yards of pond before settling on a generous size green. The course is not for everybody- single digit handicappers and very long hitters may not find it challenging enough. But for the rest of us, Stillwater Oaks will provide an enjoyable round of golf.
Improved Stillwater Oaks
Sawmill changed management in 2014 and now is called Stillwater Oaks. There has been considerable improvements in the course layout and maintenance.
The course is very scenic, heavily wooded, has elevation changes, several ponds and although the yardage seems short, it offers challenges that require accurate shots. Even though my round was played in the early season, the course was in good shape, greens ran true and fairways were good. Overall Stillwater Oaks is a fun, valued priced course that will challenge all levels of golfers.
Greens are in great shape
My wife and I played Sawmill on 9/22/13 and we found that the course and especially the greens were in excellent condition. I had not played the course in several years and was very pleasantly surprised. We will be back!
Good course for the price. few holes should be change around, layout.
Good course for the money, won't pay more than I payed to play. Pace was good
great with the hot deal discount!!!!!!
Course was very dry when I played it. But I would also play it again.
Interesting and Enjoyable Venue
I was pleasantly surprised at the maturity and interesting layout of the Sawmill golf course. It was very enjoyable and provides all levels of play with a valuable and interesting experience. I would recommend the course to anyone who likes a combination of features such as wooded terrain and occasional water. Well worth the trip.
Nice course with a few blemishes
My 2nd time out to Sawmill. Overall I like this course, solid value, challenge and the overall conditions are fine. I believe its #10, is where the green is beat up pretty good in a few spots. Besides that its in decent shape.
this course has nothing to offer
i booked this course for 30$ wasnt worth 10 the course was burnt out bad if you didnt hit the fairways it was like playing on concrete greens were in terrible shape
Too many blind shots
I hadn't played Sawmill for about ten years, after having played it a number of times. The course was relatively unchanged. What struck me during the round is the high number of blind shots (can't see ball land) and the difficulty of keeping track of players immediately ahead of you. Lots of rolling hills. This caused some consternation and delay for us. It is easy to lose track of your ball, even if it is in play.
I would play the course again, but would find it hard to enthusiastically recommend to others.
