Up North Gem
Love this course. So beautiful and in great condition. Golf all over Northern Michigan but keep coming back to this course. Never have a problem getting a tee time and staff is terrific.
Challenging layout, great condition. I come up from deep south - think Bermuda - bent grass is a treat. Vale does it well.
Great golf course and a terrific layout. Very good variety of holes. The holes have lots of sand traps however the front is open for a bump and run shot. The greens are huge, and my iron play resulted in very long putts!! Also, be ready for lots of elevated greens. If you’re headed up north for a golf outing this is worth the detour for a round. My only criticisms would be the greens were a little slow and the course was very soggy in some spots, sprinkler malfunctions or massive rain.
Another Excellent Round at Emerald Vale
Cool, crisp morning round; course was a little soggy in places. This is an excellent course; great value. Staff always friendly. Front nine was fine; however, got behind a group of 3 foursomes; on the back nine; and played too slow!
Trip to northern michigan
Great value and nice course. Pace of play during the second nine was slow. I would play again.
A great start to Sunday
First round of the year. Couldn't have picked a better place to start. The weather was beautiful. The staff was friendly. And the course was in great shape. Will definitely recommend to everyone, PLAY EMERALD VALE.
This course gives you a little of everything. The greens were soft (Spring) and a little slow again Spring.
Excellent Layout and Friendly Staff
This was my first time playing Emerald Vale and what a pleasant surprise. Excellent conditions on the course and the customer service far exceeded my expectations with a staff member driving the cart out to the drop off zone as we arrived! We loved the views on the course and the greens were in excellent conditions n.
Extremely well maintained beautiful course with friendly staff. Very fun and relaxing to play.
After Sept 1 this course has been barely used....others playing are friendly and will let you play through and the course is in great shape. Chicken salad sandwich was great!, and everything was very affordable
Solid local course
Emerald Vale is a great golf course with a wide variety of holes. I knocked a star off because it has a tendency to be a little soggy and the greens could be a touch faster. Other than those things, this is a very solid course with some awesome features that can entertain any type of golfer.
Once again, an excellent course. Great conditions; friendly staff. Great value!!
This is a great course a little out of the way. Everything was great, except people on the front nine don't seem to know that you have to fix your ball mark on the green. The back nine was much better. They have had a lot of rain so the rough was very thick. Hit the fairway and you were fine, off and you had trouble.
Very friendly staff, would definitely play here again, 18 holes in just over 3 hrs.
Other than the rough being a little long for me, and very soft conditions, I was pleased with the course. The back 9 is very much northern Michigan style.
Worth the drive from TC.
Played this course a few times over the years. The greens are nice and roll true. Fun playable layout.
First time playing; excellent course; great layout. Little soggy in some areas due to a lot of recent rain. Pro shop attendant very helpful and considerate. Definitely will play this course again
Had a Great Day at Emerald Vale
First time playing Emerald Vale. Took my father in law on a Saturday morning after finding an online deal. We drove 45 minutes and were both surprisingly impressed with the course and layout. I grew up on a Bruce Matthews designed course so figured we'd check it out.
Generous fairways cut through woods made the course very playable with a beautiful outline. Holes were shaped and manicured. The chance for some elevation changes definitely gave the day a northern feel.
The course condition was good and the greens rolled pretty good with plenty of undulation and challenge for any skill player.
Very impressed and will travel to play it again... Great day at Emerald Vale :)
Emerald Vale is a surprise course with very good fairways, excellent greens and outstanding staff. Had the best round of a very young season in Michigan. Highly recommend the course
