Great course
This course was very nice. Only complaint is that the fairways are hard as rock and a little difficult to play on. The tees were even harder.
Nice Basic Public Course
The extremely dry weather has forced the course to leave the greens long - so, they were very slow. That is understandable. The routing wanders all around the property and you need to pay attention to the number on the tee markers. Keep your head on a swivel as wayward approach shots may be coming your way on the tee. Mature trees narrow some of the fairways. The course is in good condition for the dry weather.
Par 3 with my son
The par 3 was a great experience with my 8 yr. old. Play was relaxed and the course wasn't busy so he was able to play his own ball for two loops around the 9 hole course. We were originally going to play the regular 18 but a staff member suggested the par 3 instead. Great recommendation.
Garbage course
Waited in line for every single hole while most tee boxes don’t even have grass on them. Terrible place for how much they charge.
Fun for the money!
This is a fun low budget golf course with some interesting golf holes. It’s mostly amateur hour.but if you know that going in….it’s a fun round!
Avoid RSGC IF you’re a good or serious golfer.
Course was in bad shape
First time playing this course and it was in bad shape. The fairways were rock hard with very few areas with grass. Mostly weeds and dirt in the fairway. On most holes the rough was in better shape than the fairway. Greens were also rock hard and very bumpy. There were maybe 3-4 holes in OK condition. The rest were pretty bad.
Affordable Course
Played this course twice now, theres geese hit literally everywhere you could imagine, you’re always hitting it or stepping on it.
The greens are awful, cart man is not friendly, and to check in you have to walk up a 3 story tree house thing.
If you’re looking for a cheap place to play, go right ahead I mean I even returned for a 2nd
All that being said, I really do like the layout here, there’s some difficult par 3’s and fun par 4’s. The par 5’s are bleh.
Great Value, Not Great Locals
I started playing this course regularly in 2022. Ten minute drive from home, can ALWAYS get a tee time almost any time of day (odd considering the course is always super busy), and for $35 for 18 holes it's hard to beat. I've learned to play the course really well and have shot my best rounds ever here probably for that reason. That said, there are a few things that make it not always super fun. Here's a list of pros/cons:
Pros:
- Great value for the price
- Greens are usually perfect even through the winter, honestly some of the best kept greens in the metro area
- Quick service at the bar for food/drink, good options, and great prices
- Marshall at the first green is very professional and on top of things
- On a day with good pace I've finished 18 holes in 2.5 hours playing solo
Cons:
- Carts are pretty crummy, gotta choke them to get them going pretty often (heyooo)
- Course is called Riverside for a reason, it's next to the river. For that reason, terrible drainage, so often standing water for several days after a rain, and so more often that no it is cart path only.
- Lot of boneheads on this course. Will wait for green to clear but then duff it and rehit and duff it again
- The river road must be a popular place for hotrodding. One local with a street bike loves to fly up and down the street all day every day and it's the noisiest backfiring motorcycle known to man. Some regular Corvettes involved in all this as well.
- People will often honk their car horn during your swing as they're driving by
- Feels like there is zero understanding of ettiquette by most players. Walking across your fairway to hit their sliced tee shot and not paying attention to the fact you were about to take your swing. Etc.
- No course marshal managing pace of play
- Not uncommon to see a group of 6-8 playing together and clogging things up
Despite the lopsidedness of my pros/cons list, I'd still recommend the course if you're looking for an easy or quick outing with a handful of challenging greens and plenty of water and sand hazards.
Solid Bargain
This is a reasonably priced course that is fun to play with some well designed water holes. The tee boxes are always a touch hard and man oh man is there a lot of geese but the price is pretty fair for the experiene.
