One of the worst courses I’ve ever played
Over my golfing career, Riverside might be one of the worst courses I’ve ever been on. The only reason I’d ever played it in the past was a “knock-the-rust-off” round to start the year for little money. But it has gone downhill even more than from the past, and now I don’t think I’ll even do that.
We chose to play there because another golfer and I were taking his girlfriend out for her second-ever full round and didn’t want to spend too much or play a difficult course. Bad decision! The cart path was in terrible shape with many holes and broken-up asphalt. The fairways were patchy with dead spots everywhere, and the grass that was there was a combo of weeds and crabgrass. There was no difference between the fairways and the rough as it all ran together and looked the same. The tee boxes were in awful shape and most of the sand traps were completely bare.
The one semi-positive thing I will say is that the greens were in OK shape but they were wrecked with TONS of ball marks, spike marks and foot prints. I hate to say it about any course, but I really cannot see myself paying money to play there ever again.
Perfect for Beginners
I'm a mid skilled golfer taking a friend out for his first time on a full par 4 course (vs an executive par 3). Fairways weren't differentiable from the rough with everything being crabgrass and at the same cut, but everything seemed well-maintained. Pace of play was unhurried, I can see where at peak times unhurried could turn to painfully slow however.
All in all, it was exactly what I was looking for to make that first jump to a full course. Will be back here with my beginner friend again but would not recommend for more seasoned golfers.
6:15 AM tee/ 8/5
An enjoyable round of golf. Weather was perfect and I was the only one on the course through the first 9 holes. Groundskeepers were mowing the fairways as I played but aside from the clumps of grass, it didn't bother me. All of them were very friendly. Greens were torn apart from people not repairing divots and the sand traps were rock hard.
Over priced for the value
Crab grass tee boxes, un-kept fairways... jammed up tee times and overpriced beer.
Pretty bad
Tee boxes are mostly dirt, and rock hard. Constantly waiting for people ahead of us as tee times were horrible. Overall pretty bad experience here won’t be back.
For What It’s Worth
Cart path only mean just that. Three groups drove through a soggy course
Fairways are patchy
Greens have growth of weeds in them
Tee Boxes are mud or overgrown
I know this course is a muni but there are just too many good options around.
Terrible course
First time playing there this weekend and it was flat out terrible. Tee boxes are dirt and crabgrass and the fairways are worse than my backyard. Marshall takes his job was to serious and will make your guest (not playing) pay 10 dollars as a “ridding fee”. Our tee time was 11:15 and was unable to finish to slow play. Took about 6 hours to reach hole 16. Seriously I wouldn’t pay more than five dollars for this trash bag of a course.
Need better Covid 19 protocol
There was nothing to prevent the ball from falling all the way to the bottom of the cup. Had to dig the ball out of the cup that everyone else was touching.
Fun Morning
We had a great morning round of golf. Fairways in decent shape greens were good. Only real complaint was deep ball marks on the greens (fresh) but that’s on you guys (the players) not the staff! Overall we had a lot of fun, yes it was somewhat busy, but it’s popular due to convenience and overall value. So pace was slowish but not bad.
Walter
I found Walter to be inconsiderate as well as a hypochondriac. They let way too many people on the course and when I asked him about it he blamed other. They had a full tournament tee off at 7 and my tee time was at 1030. I also saw him thoroughly search a cooler of a father and son who were playing. My friends and I will not be back.
The Marshall
I found the marshall to be rude and a hypochondriac. I feel they had way too many people on the course and should have not allowed tee times at 1030 when a full tournament got off at 7 am. I also saw him search a cooler of a dad and son who were playing. My friends and I will not be back.
First time and the last time
Wanted to try a new course and chose the wrong one. Course layout was very tight. Condition was average. It was a very busy day. Had time set up for a friend and myself. We were checked in and paid before our schedule time. Marshal pushed us back 25 minutes without asking us. Paired us with another duo who had a later time. Positive note, the duo was was nice and had great golf etiquette. Course was VERY busy so play was slow. Group behind us called the clubhouse and told the employee we were not keeping up with the group in front of us. We fell behind a shot or two when one of our shots was picked up by another group behind us. Long story short, Marshal jumped on us with no questions asked. Maybe I’m making too big of a deal about the Marshal, but he could have at us with a better attitude. Drink and food prices were average to other courses. Don’t think I will be going back to River Side anytime soon.
