goat pasture
There were no fairways.there were weeds everywher. I lost 2 balls after hitting it strai down the middle. Not a fun round of golf
Average at best
I did not think this course was average. The course did not seem to be well maintained but then again is was only a $20 course.
Good outing but rough weather - friendly golf pro
River Oaks is an older course that has a great layout (elevation changes, creeks, some narrowish fairways, etc) but average conditions, although the conditions are improved from previous years. Temp was 42 and 20 mph wind from NW most of the round and it was COLD! Was supposed to be 52 and little wind which would be good for KC in the middle of February. Still had a good time with 2 Golfnow guys that joined me. The golf pro was friendly and very helpful.
River Oaks
A great golf course, the layout was challenging and the greens were outstanding. My balls stuck on all greens even with my long irons and woods.
Really enjoyed the course
Course was in very good condition, greens and fairways were a great improvement from the last time I played there about 4 years ago. The only complaint I have is the length of the rough and this is not the only course I've played this year that has this problem. It's very frustrating to spend half my time on the course looking for my ball because the rough is so dam tall and it slows play down.
Cheap golf
The pro shop staff are the best I have seen here in nearly a decade. Nice/friendly people who finally know a little about how to run a course. The course it's self is in better shape due to all the rain and cool temps this summer (looks like the only water the greens). Layout is nice all kinds of shots and it's pretty flat. Not much room for the erront drive. OB is on every hole left and right . Greens are flat and slower then anyone should expect. For the money it's worth it. Just eat before you go cause there is old hot dogs on the rollers for sale.
Good times
Many won't like that it's not ready for the PGA. But while it's not, it's fun, it's golf, and the staff if great. People who might not like it should not be on GolfNow looking for deals, I'll leave it at that. I'll be heading there way a lot as I prepare my sons for a life of golf.
Great Course
Course was great. Pace was fine other than some members jumping in at the back 9 that kind of slowed us down. The round was so great I did not mind waiting. The staff were extremely friendly. I would have liked a brat at the turn. There was nothing other than chips ready. They missed some incremental sales. I would highly recommend this course. The greens and fairways were outstanding. I paid $67 for a round at Canyon creek a couple of weeks ago and this place blows it away. The clubhouse was older and could use updating. I have to say, if they are putting their money into the course, don't change a thing. I would definitely play here again!!!
Good course
This course was a lot of fun for a low pressure easy going time. Got a good deal on it and don't regret going.
Not a lot of people
As I am just a beginner to the sport, I'd say this is a good bang for your buck. The coarse is a little confusing when starting since the score card didn't have a course map. The grass wasn't the best quality to say the least while being over grown and having clumps of dead grass. Hen I pulled up I saw a couple guys playing in cut off shirts, but im not sure if they have a dress code.
Awful!
This is the worst golf course I have ever been to! There was not a difference in cut between the fairway and the rough. Crab grass growing pretty much everywhere. Would not ever play there again
Course in ROUGH shape
50% grass, 50% crabgrass and dandelions, and that's in the fairways on most holes. Not much spent on upkeep. The greens were incredibly slow due to length. Decent layout through "interesting" neighborhoods.
On the plus side:
We rarely saw another player on a beautiful Friday afternoon, and we only paid $16 for 18 w/cart.
You get what you pay for.
Sloppy Course
Was first time out here. We had some rain two days prior to me playing. Course does not drain well from rain. Puddles were all over the course. But it's early in the season so I try not to expect much, as much of the grass has not come in yet from winter.
The course is actually pretty difficult, requiring above average accuracy on tee shots. ultimately this was a good value for what I paid.
Fairways?
The fairways looked liked a jungle. There were so many dandelions and small shrubs in the fairway that even if you did land in the fair way you would not have a good lie. The complete unorganization of hole locations makes it very very easy to get lost if it is your first time out. Overall I will never play here again and I would not recommend it to anyone I know.
Great greens...that about it
The course was in pretty poor shape. The fairways were non existent and pretty unkept. Some tee boxes were completely bare. Greens were in good shape.
Disapointed
Course is in bad shape. Staff was friendly. That's about the only good thing I can say. Tee boxes were bare, mostly dirt as were the fairways, which were just aerated. I got a deal on golf now, if I'd of payed full price I would have asked for my money back. Greens were in good shape so if the tee boxes and fairways improve it wouldn't be a bad course.
Quick Round, Good value
Met my expectations since I had played here before. Ist round of the year and had some quality time with my older son. Good pace, no one pushing, no hold ups. Great value and friendly people.
a little neglected
The fairways were full of dry dirt patches. The greens were great. Roughs were overgrown and trashy. If out of fairway at all, you're likely to lose your ball. A nice little layout and too bad it has been poorly maintained.
Mother's Day Treat
I had a beautiful day with my beautiful daughters. Luckily we had lots of balls. We lost many balls in the fairways that were covered with dandelions and little grass and the roughs that were covered with dandelions and clover.
The Beast of the East!
Course has it all, elements, elevation changes, contours, consequences for missing greens/fairways into knee high grass. Awesome! Loved it!
Poorly Maintained. I seen this course when it was in prime shape. Every since Great Life has taking it over its been in poor poor shape. They never water the fairways and over water the greens, so about July they re burnt up. But for $29/m, what do you expect. That money is used to care for the sod farm that Great Life's owner owns. Yep a sod farm and his golf courses are in terrible shape.
