First tome out
Make sure the first 2 or 3 times out you're with someone that's played there before. Quite a few blind shots. Back 9 has more par 3's than 4's which makes for less than a 4 hour round.
Tee boxes were dry and very hard. Couldn't tee up a ball at most of them. There was no water throughout the course. The greens were especially fast and not consistent.
Course Plays well with some Interesting Looks
Golf course was quite enjoyable to play. Lay-out was challenging and several fun holes. Several par-3 holes that were lengthy and moved the pace. Second cut was a bit high for me, but unlike my golf partner - if you stay on the fairway no worries. Clubhouse was quaint, with drinks and some tasty dogs! Our group will return for a couple of reasons, course was fun to play and in comparison to other courses in the KC area - prices were reasonable.
Great value and several great holes
We played a threesome the other day and the course played very well considering the hot and dry weather we are experiencing in KC. Their are several holes that play well and are challenging. The pace of play was a bit slow, but only because their were several folks on the course. We never had to wait, but we had both players in front and behind. The club house and golf manager are super friendly and professional. In comparison to the cost, very reasonable and our group will gladly return to play again.
A short par 66 course that'll make you think
I made a hasty reservation for an early Saturday morning and didn't realize the course was so short. Since my iron play has lately been the worst part of my game, I was worried that the course would soundly beat me. I was glad to be proven wrong.
Teetering Rocks is a fun course that rewards thinking through every shot. You'll rarely pull driver. There are eight par 3s and only two par 5s. A few holes have blind drives. A few others have pretty severe doglegs. I only recall one or two fairways that felt tight.
The par 3 third, what I assume to be their signature hole, is a 90-foot elevated tee to a heart-shaped green. (I thoroughly surprised myself by getting it on the edge of the green in one--and then didn't surprise myself by three-putting for bogey.)
The rough was thick enough for me to have lost a couple of balls in it even after having looked for a couple of minutes. But, for those I did find, hitting out of it wasn't painful.
I had a tee time of 8 a.m., but I showed up at 7 to warm up. That's when I learned two things: there's no driving range (just a pitch-and-putt area off the first tee) and the golf pro may let you get on the course early. I was allowed to play solo at 7 a.m., which I was thoroughly grateful for given it was my first time to play the course.
Another benefit of the early-morning tee time was getting to talk to the greenskeeper, who was mowing the greens in front of me on nearly every hole. My favorite interaction with him was when he told me, "Nothing like a good par" after my up-and-down on 14.
However, he hadn't seen me shank it into the ravine off the tee. Nor did he know that I hadn't even played my own ball off the edge of the green after my second tee shot. (I thought it was my ball until after I'd finished the hole.) So, technically, my score was 7.
I didn't correct his mistake.
All in all, Teetering Rocks surprised me in all the best ways. But the problem with a fun short course is that it's over all too soon.
The next time I'm in town, I imagine I'll visit again.
And maybe that time I can get a legitimate par on 14.
P.S. Watch out for the dragon.

Booked an early tee time as a single. Gentleman in the clubhouse was super friendly. Let me sneak out early. Interesting and challenging layout. Could have left the driver home because with all the doglegs, this one is more a test of accuracy than who can drive it the furthest. Played the full 18 I. Just under 3 hours. Walk at your own peril because this one is spread out! Greens and fairways were in good shape considering recent rains. Rough was a bit long and a lost a few balls because I didn’t want to slow things down. I felt this course was one of the better values. I’ll be back often
Not long but technically challenging.
Title says it all. It isn't a massively long course, but there are some good control challenges and the blind and confined nature of some of the holes makes it a fun challenge.
Surprisingly fun little course
Very fun little course with great staff hospitality and reasonable prices
