A nice walkable course that provides good value for the cost.

Shamrock has improved their maintenace of the course and operations over the last couple of years. It is a relatively easy course but, does offer a few challenging holes. You can walk this course if you want. The fairways and greens were in very good shape. I will play this course again.

Short, Fun Track

Short, Fun Track. Fairways are a little spotty due to putting in new grass, but over all good value.

Excellent Deal & Course

Course has great features, great fairways, excellent greens. Very open so the less experienced golfers won't lose too many balls. All in all, for the money, best course in the Kansas City area.

Nice layout

Shamrock is a good layout with a lot of character. Greens are in good condition. Trees lead to some challenging shots. Pace of play was suspect. Marshals were around when first started but were nowhere to be found when two groups backed up the whole course.

good value

The course shows the money spent on it over the last two years was well spent.Greens in excellent ( if slow) condition .Fairways mostly in good shape. Women's tees are being redone and now are just stuck in the ground somewhere close.

Green and well kept, greens were slow

All courses are running about a month behind due to the belated weather we've had, so as you would expect, everything is very green, the zoysia they stripped in last year has started to blend well with the older grass and no longer requires any type of lift and place rule, greens are slow, were a little long in my opinion, fairways and rough mowed as expected. Its a very straight forward course, conducive to faster play and not too difficult for beginners even if it isn't one of the Championship Level courses in the area. Unfortunately my game is also running about a month behind and despite driving well, chipping and putting killed my score.

Enjoyed my time

Went with a friend. We're not very accomplished golfers, but everyone was nice, and everything was kept pretty nice at the course.

Good course at a very good price

A nice layout in pretty good condition. Some new tee boxes are being added. Some temporary tee boxes were is bad shape. A few of the tee boxes were so hard it was difficult to push a tee into place. Drop areas needed to be mowed, not that I needed drops.

This course is a great value.

I was not disappointed. ****

This is a really nice golf course in its class. The greens are well maintained and looked better to me than the $60.00 to $70.00 I played. Fairways are graded right now but almost grown back up and not really affecting play at all. I was very impressed. For what I paid through golf now.com , I will go back every day. Staff are welcoming and very nice. Pared the 1st 4 holes , ( that was good for playing it the 1st time.) Just check 1st for tournaments (as with every golf course.)

Not for New or Group Golfing

• Sunday morning, a group of 10 friends and co-workers had reserved early morning tee times. We were hoping to both spend a relaxing morning golfing as well as give a proper send off to one of our good friends who is joining the Air Force. When we arrived, it was rainy and overcast and we were delighted when we were told at check in that everyone had cancelled for the day due to the rain and that we pretty much had the place to ourselves, especially since several of our group, including myself, were first time golfers.
The first five holes we had a fun time, and as we were under no time constraints, we were taking our time, enjoying the $50 round of golf we had just purchased. That's when things went downhill in a hurry. The Marshall came puttering up and told us we needed to speed it along as they had a tournament coming through. While his tone was a bit off putting and this tournament had not been mentioned at checkin, we obliged, even benching one of our team and hurried along through mud puddles. This clown continued to harass us, paying customers until whole 11 when we had finally had enough. We ended up in a shouting match on the fairway of the 11th hole, and I suggested meeting him back at the club house for a refund and that we would leave. After all, having a condescending Marshall follow you for 6 holes saying things like "Hurry it along son," "Get it moving Son," and "Son, 20 minutes per whole is not fast enough" (Our first 2 or 3 holes may have taken 20 minutes but none after he asked us to pick it up in the first place) is not my idea of a relaxing Sunday morning or $50 well spent for that matter. Why would you call a paying customer son?!
We met up with the rest of our group who was two holes in front of us where the marshall decided to yell and belittle them as well and we all packed up and headed for the clubhouse before tempers got the best of anyone.
Back at the clubhouse, we were given a half assed apology and a rain check for 9 holes of golf at a future time. This was not the refund that we were told we would recieve. We were already playing in the rain and having a fine time until we were treated so poorly. We have no wish to return to your course and use your rain check.
In short: It was my first time golfing and I loved it! It pretty much came natural to me as well. I see myself spending A Lot of time and money on this in the future, but NEVER at Shamrock Hills. I have never paid so much to be treated so poorly in my life.

Cheap Shot

I called the clubhouse and verified the deal before purchasing on GolfNow. The guy working the pro shop seemed friendly. When I arrived, mind you I had already paid in full, the guy working the counter tells me that the back 9 is closed and we will have to play the front 9 twice. This would have been great information to tell me before I booked. The course is in pretty bad shape also.

It's not worth paying anything to play here.

Run down...

I played this course last week and it was in pretty rough shape. Even with all the rain we have had recently, the ground was as hard as concrete. It is decent if you are looking for a cheap round, but do not expect to be impressed here.

Moderately open course. Good for people of my level.

Friendly staff. Course a little less than optimal because of an attempt to incorporate zoysia into fairways by planting strips up and down the fairways last year. An easy course to lose balls even in fairways in the fall because of fallen leaves not being kept off course. Very muddy yesterday so cart path only because of excessive rain this year so far. Greens in great shape so far.
