Crystal Springs Quarry Golf Club
About
Crystal Spring Quarry sits perched atop a bluff overlooking the Missouri River Valley. In 1888, the quarry was established and named after the crystal clear springs that meander across the landscape. Over a century later the historic quarry was transformed into a stunning 18-hole, public golf course. Mature forests surround three sides of the course and the fourth is bordered by Creve Coeur Park. The terrain was carefully preserved to the point that playing a round almost feels like wandering through a nature preserve. The protected wetlands, vast lakes, and meadows covered in native grasses were deftly utilized in the design. Water is naturally a major element of the golf course but there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. It is a challenge, but five sets of tees make Crystal Spring Quarry more accessible for different skill levels.

Great layout
First time I've played here, but it won't be the last. This is a challenging course that you need to play a few times to know proper club selection. We found that out the hard way ! Still enjoyed the great views and really nice condition that the course was in,especially the greens which rolled true and fast.Good time !
Great course, spotty greens, slow play
Review title says it all. Greens were full of blemishes from other golfers (spikes, divots, etc). Fairways and everywhere off the green was well conditioned. First time playing in the STL area and I was impressed with this course. Will consider playing again in the future.
challenging course in a beautiful setting
this course is a hidden gem that can test even the best golfers, the greens are tricky, had several putts break up hill. the practice facility is top notch with multiple hitting options. played in a light rain on and off and the built in bag covers on the carts were a nice touch.
nice course but slow play
Fairways were in good shape but greens were full of ball marks and scuffed from shoe marks...pace of play was extremely slow...5-1/2 hours...lots of singles and response...finally after 16 holes Marshall came by and said he asked groups ahead to speed up play
Greens were really beat up
We played on Sunday morning of Labor Day Weekend and the course still had quite a bit of standing water in fairways and several traps. The greens rolled pretty well but were really beat up from all of the play. I'm not sure that they changed the pin positions on Sunday morning. Lots of spike marks and ball marks. Otherwise the course was in good shape.
cart path only. conditions were good.
Greens we we in great shape. Waiting at the tee was short if at all. The course was full but moved right along. Cart girl was prompt and frequently when you needed her.
definitely play this course
I live in st. Charles, mo. This is the closest golf course near my house. I consider this to be my home course. From tee to green this course is always in fabulous shape. The staff really does a great job. The value is superb. Go play this golf course. You won't be disappointed.
Excellent option for the $$$
I've played this course twice recently in the last month and have put it on the top of my list for places to play with friends. The layout of the course creates an open feel that never makes you feel crowded but does punish an errant shot. 5 different tee locations can accommodate my friends different levels of play. A great location for friends from Saint Louis and Saint Charles to meet for a round.
Pace of play and greens were excellent
Greens were very fast and true
Pace of play was just under 4 hours.
The Quarry
I had not played this course since they did away with the first hole and added the par 3 hole. The course was in excellent condition and we were paired up with a delightful local couple. It was a very enjoyable day.
tuff but fun
this links style coures will make you pay if your distance control is off as there is a abundace of lakes and native grasses to add strokes to you card . and good luck on holding greens if you were fourtunate to stay 3 inch rough so fairways are a must . once on the putting surfaces you will find very smooth n quick . i wish they could find a different way to keep geese away from some tee boxes and greens ( chasing them with carts worked but would hate to see one of their employees turn over there cart )
JUST OK
Course good to average condition, newly re-sodded tee blocks on several holes. Nothing of note but nothing too negative either. Greens very firm and hard to hold.
Good Deal at the Quarry
Got a very good deal on greens fees at peak time (9:30 AM) Sunday morning. Staff was accommodating & practice facility is excellent. This is a good option for friends living in St Charles & St Louis Counties looking for a place to meet in the middle.
Overpriced
Let's see: I used to play here 30 years ago, they lost when they lost their greens, the course was in bad shape, but they still kept charging premium greens fees. So I thought after 30 years it was time to give them another try. I can't say I loved the course, but the course is not bad. They do charge too much money, my cost from golf now was $32 and that was a hot rate. So I would rate this course at about $21 rate. I played on a Thursday 10am and the course was wide open, was happy it only took 3.5 hours to play. AS some other comments have suggested the GPS is still mapped to the old course layout so hard to tell distances. The greens are good, fast, and it is a shame that people don't repair ball marks cuz you see it is going to get bad as soon as the hot weather hits. I am so glad they kept the old number 1 ( I think its number 11 now) nice feature hitting from way up high.
So my only real complaint is the price for what you get. Lower the price to $24 and I will be back.
Awesome Course and fabulous surroundings
This is a beautiful course in the "City" close to Creve Coeur Lake. Would definitely go again and already told my other son that we need to play. The greens were in very good shape and the course was challenging enough without feeling overwhelmed.
30 plus index
Good time. Did not lose to many balls. Windy day but temperature was good.
Very poor experience.
Course was overbooked. Tees were backed up. After two holes a Marshall moved us to an open hole and the pace picked up until we got back to #1 and then we had another long wait. We quit after 3 hours and just 12 holes.
Also, the course has been re-arranged and the old course is mapped into the GPS systems. The course is very poorly marked so you never know distances.
It was a poor experience.
Nice Course
Greens were a little challenging for a moderate player like myself. The fairways were in good shape and greens were a little fast. Paid $34 w/ cart for 18 and felt it was a good deal. My only negative, my Swami GPS does not work on this course. Those of you who use golf GPS devices may experience the same issue.
