Loved the course and look forward to returning to St Joseph and playing this course again. I hope to stay out of the rough when I return.
Charged a higher rate
Played w a group of friends, one is a GL member and scheduled the tee times. Arrived at same time as another in our group and was charged $80 per player, which I asked for both but no that was per player! Halfway thru the round I checked Golfnows rate and it was showing $50 for the rest of the day and the next day! I feel we were taken advantage and treated as a walk in. The course was in great shape greens were best I've seen this year, but still can't justify the price!
Tight and lots of elevation changes
The fairways were average. Hard and dry in spots. Tee’s average also. Hard to get the t in the ground sometimes. Greens nice and challenging
Pricey but worth playing once
I have not played at a private Country Club so I was kind of shocked to see STJCC on GolfNow, I have heard it was nice so I wanted to check it out for myself. The staff is very courteous but the food/drink options are pretty limited, also did not see a cart girl. The course is in great shape all around, the only negative of the course is that none of the holes are marked, it is fairly straightforward for the most part and helps to use the GolfNow GPS if you get mixed up. If you don't mind shelling out $60 to play it once, then I would recommend but definitely not spending that much to play there often. One of the best things about it was how laid back it is, not busy at all and the members I did encounter were all very friendly and helpful. One hiccup was they were running sprinklers on hole 12 or 13 while I was playing so I had to dodge those on a chip and a putt.
A W Tillinghast course
