A pretty winter day. Photo submitted by geno929 on 01/20/2013
If you are close it is worth a play
I play here quite often because it is by my house. I never play at peak rates because quite frankly it would not be worth it. But at $20 to $25 it is not a bad deal.
It is normally in reasonably good shape and has some different holes. The front is mostly wooded and the back is more open. There is a lot of lay up golf. Many will not use their driver very often.
One thing everyone should know is that they keep their greens incredibly long. Unusually long. The longest greens I have ever played. It has been this way for the past two years. Some of my playing partners do not like the course for this reason.
The employees also discourage walking because of the distance between 9 and 10 and the course does not usually have many water coolers on the course. If you are only playing 9, try to start off 10. I think the holes on the back are much more enjoyable than the front.
Favorite course in metro stl
This far and away my favorite public course in the metro area. It's on the plumber and pipe fitters union's campus rather than in surrounded by a subdivision like most courses. Start out in the woods before emerging out into the open for the back nine. Course is always in great condition. Only issues are that when playing weekday afternoons they will sometimes leave hoses out around/ on the greens and that some of the tee boxes on the par threes are too hard and dry. Overall a good challenge to your entire game and a great way to escape the city without driving way out into the boons.
It was wet. It rainted a lot before hand.
The course was wet due to the rain before hand. Time well spent with the back up of players afterwards.
Challenging and beautiful course
Challenging course, even more challenging because the greens could use a little trimming along with the fringe... Can't figure why hole 9 is so far away from 10, but that is a minor nitpick... fairways were well maintained with a nice layout, many holes to think on instead of pulling your driver out to lay into one you have to layup and play smart golf...will definately go back.
Good value
Given all the rain we've had recently, the course was as lush as one would expect. Layout is fun; more target golf than a distance challenge. Sand traps need some love and attention. Pace of play was great considering path only conditions. Why no beverage cart?
nice, well kept course but play was extremely slow
nice, well kept course but play was extremely slow on Saturday
A Fun Course
I enjoy playing this course. It's not a very long course, about 6300 yrds from the back tees, but has very well designed holes for the property. Like alot of other courses, they too are leaving the greens a little longer so they putt a little slower, but they hold approach shots quite well.
Nice course
Course was in very good condition. Seems like they scheduled several tee times at the same time to take advantage of folks wanting to play at prime time (10:00am). Fortunately, I found a threesome to join out ahead of the pack, but if I hadn't I would have had to wait behind 3 or 4 groups. Sneaky plan by the course.
Great value!
Can't beat the price, although it is a little out of the way. Tricky holes requiring some course knowledge. Good condition and will play again!
VERY slow greens, VERY nice staff, overall very good condition
Played here on a golf now rate of $17 which was half the normal rate. I was playing with my 15 yr old daughter. When she said she was playing to check out the corse for an upcoming junior tournament the guy at the counter dropped everything and reviewed the entire corse with her. The greens were painfully slow, but the course condition and pace of play were very good. I play here a few times each year, and it is in the best shape ever. Just speed up the greens.
Challenging but fun.
We had a great time playing this course. Unfortunately we had to stop on hole 13 due to bad weather. I thought the course was beautiful and would rank it between maintained and pristine. It was cart path only so a lot of walking. If I was going to say anything negative it would be the staff. While they were friendly enough they did not go out of their way to be of service. We ordered a couple of hot dogs and some fries after the 9th hole and the girl forgot the fries in the fryer. We had to remind her. Other than that it was a great time. Lots of laughs.
Over booked
The course was in good condition, but was over crowded. Did not finish 18.
Good track
Tight front 9 opening up on the back.. Hole 18 challenges you and there is a 562 yd par 5 that will punish you with a bad drive. Play this early in the year they burn up in the hot summer months
nice course no houses around a lot of wild life
the greens where kind of shaggy, we have been getting a lot of rain. It's a fun course, water, sand, everything you need
Like the layout
Fairways need grass and some greens need attention while some are in good shape
Good for the money
Course can be challenging especially for first timers. There are several holes that require local knowledge to select appropriate club. Course is a little short by most standards (even from the back tees) and requires many to keep their driver in their bag because of multiple doglegs. Par is only 70. Course was in good shape but not excellent. On the morning we played the first 3 greens had been aerated because of an emergency. After that the greens were well maintained but still SLOW. Fairways were in good shape but rough had some bare spots. Pace of play was slower than most would prefer for a 7:30 Sunday round. Nobody was behind us so we teed off about 15 minutes behind schedule to let the group in front of us get far enough ahead. Our foursome caught them by the third hole and by no means were we playing fast. Ended up being over 4.5 hour round.
Really neat layout
It's one of my favorites in St. Louis area. Greens were good after # 1 &2,
Course has holes of different types
Great value for the money on golf now if you are somewhat flexible on tee tmes.
Average course
Roughs were very long: any ball missing the fairway was usually lost. This was somewhat understandable with the amount of recent rain in st. louis. However, price should be dependant on course conditions.
