Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Mountain West (2018 #10)
Reviews
Golfing is always better than work. Being in the mountain areas makes it special
Great
Great course play my best game ever 78, +1 on front 9 but fell apart on back. Awesome day but slow play
Buffalo Hills is Great!
Great reception at check in. Bucket of balls for warm up, good cart, and good pace of play. Sprinkles of rain on holes 2-5, but great skies after that. Prettycourse.
Great course with ups and downs.
This course has a lot of blind shots and dog legs. This was the first time we played here. We are glad the course wasn't busy so we could drive forward and see where the pin was and how to play our next shot. Staff was very friendly, the course was in great shape and the greens were soft.
Great Day !
The course was in great shape.
There was dykeing in place as a precaution for
flooding but was hardly in play.
Excellent Shape' Staff are fantastic
Other than the layout of the course, a few holes require driving ahead to see if it's clear to hit, then driving back, and not a fan that the 9th hole does not return to the vicinity of the clubhouse.
We have travelled here to play this course for over 30 years, twice a year.
Buffalo hills
Enjoyed our day. Lots of sand bagging on 4 holes course in such great shape- hope no damage occurs from any flooding.
Good early season conditions
Picked it up on a Hot Deal. I typically golf Buffalo Hills once or twice a year. It is mostly a tight layout with a few elevation changes with few 'easy ' holes.
For April the condirions were good, greens excellent. Good luck with your sandbagging efforts down along #6, hope the river stays beyond the berm! Staff are always friendly here and accomodated us by sending us out 20 minutes early and giving us a couple range tokens.
Good value
For this early in the season the course was in fair condition and the speed of play was ahead of normal
Buffalo Hills golf club
We had booked for 403pm and showed up around 330 and checked in at the pro shop. He checked us in and said the tee was ours whenever we were ready. My wife and I hit some putts and then teed off for a enjoyable day. We caught the group in front of us after 8 holes and played the rest if the round with a club member that gave us pointers on where to hit it and information on the area.
beautiful setting and layout
The course runs up and down, through trees and along side streams. Some areas of the course don't even feel like you are within city limits. It requires thoughtful shot placement over distance. Would have given 5 stars on course conditioning except bunkers needed raking from overnight goose tracks.
Great vacation course
I had played the Bigfork Lake course and at almost half the price, this place was awesome. Lots of doglegs and blind shots, so a handheld GPS was extremely helpful. The course had hidden water, elevation changes, mostly dogleg lefts, and some straight and narrow fairways. I really enjoyed it. It being an old course, the greens are settled and shaped with much contour.
Always a great course.
I learned to play golf at Buffalo Hill in the early 90's when it was the only real course in Kalispell. It taught me to hit it straight and that good decisions get lower scores than booming drives. The course's 6600 yards from the tips plays shorter off the tee because many holes have dog-legs and trees too tall to cut the corners. Most of the Championship 18 hole course is either on Buffalo Hill or along the Stillwater river. Holes 1, 2, & 17 play across the hill and make demand good shot selection as the second shot is blind or against a severe hill which effects the ball's lie. Holes 8, 10, and 11 are in a flat and open, making them feel unconnected to the rest of the course.
