Slow slow slow
Had the second tee time in the morning- held up by a 3sone in front of us on every hole. It was never so bad that we needed to ask to play through- I would say we were an average play time 4-some but there was no reason for a 3some that was first out to play a 4.5 hour round. Not so mad at the course but something should be said to guys if they aren’t playing a quick round with nobody in front of them. This was my second time at greystone this summer and the previous round was a 5.5 hour atrocity. The course is attracted lower end players and with no Ranger on the course it has gone downhill quick. Won’t be playing again anytime soon
Great course; pace needs attention.
This is a beautiful course with friendly people but the last couple of times I played it the pace of play was too slow and not well monitored. On this occasion, the greens were recently aerated and sanded--not true rolls.
Excellent Course!
This is a great and challenging course. This time of year there was the aeration chunks and seeding/excessive sand on the greens creating putting annoyances. Will be great to re-visit next year. There was an hour or more delay before start due to frost. From this the guy running pro shop was being extremely pushy with pace of play where the ranger was nice and understanding. We were keeping pace and waiting for group ahead of us while the group behind us hit up on us a few times nearly hitting me. Big issue with visibility on some holes where you can't tell the group ahead is far enough to hit. However, with the near misses on being hit the group behind me clearly could see me and the cart.
Pro shop guy rushed us to go like we did something wrong to get hot dogs and beer at the turn like any group normally would. Not our fault you had to delay in the morning. Great bar and bar tender. Views from it were amazing overlooking the last few holes and lake.
Getting Old and Needs Upgrades
This used to one of the premier public courses in Metro Detroit. Those days appear to be long gone. Tee boxes were is bad shape, cart paths and bridges need repair and the clubhouse is only average. The famed final three holes are in many respects unfair to an average golfer. Overall it’s evident why the course must run promotions. A disappointing experience for someone who recalled and played this course 20 years ago.
