New to me
First time playing this course, I was very pleased. The course is layed out well and although it has it's challenges with well placed water and sand hazards, the fairways allowed a wayward shot to be played without too much of a penalty. Speaking of penalties, I took penalty strokes on 16 and 17 and managed a bogey on 18. I think I want another shot at "the best three finishing holes in Michigan".
Greens need more time
The only complaint were the aerated greens and some very narrow uneven tee boxes
Greystone
Course was decent. Vary narrow. 18,17,16 were really well done love the lay out. Tee boxes were bad , greens were aerated which was weird this time of year. Got a hot deal for $29 wouldnt pay more. Staff was awesome!!! Looks like it use to be a great place to play. The sprinkler was on when we approached the green and never turned off. Pretty much flooding the green.
Overall was ok could been better.
Greystone Review
Great layout for a golf course, it was built on an old quarry.
Last 3 holes have great elevation change around a lake.
Course wasn't in great shape when I played it, fairways were very dry and somewhat patchy. Fun course to play!
Greens are rough
Played On 9/7 and I must say people, why don’t you fix you ball marks. The greens were in very bad shape. Unfixed ball marks galore. It’s not difficult to fix them. The other problem there are the bunkers. I didn’t call them sand traps because they don’t have sand. Other than those two issues the course was in good shape. It is a bit overpriced for what you get.
Challenging Course
Narrow fairways. Lots of well-placed traps. Played from the black gray tees not too long but overall challenging.
Slow play ruined the day
Morning tee times should not last 5 hours. Greens were not kept up. Just an overall bad round ruined by poor pace of play
A little Tricky
Very very tight fairways with trees on front nine provided no margin for error off the tee. Back nine was a little more friendly. The last 3 holes play around a large water quarry - they call it the "Finest 3 Finishing Holes in Michigan." Not the Finest but certainly the most tricky.
Number 17 - a dogleg par 4 around the water is as unreasonable a tee shot as I think I've ever seen. I hit it long and straight down the left side and the ball caromed all the way down to within 10 yards of the water - perfect position but I couldn't do that again with 12 tries.
Number 18 is a longish par 4 to an Island like green. I hit a nice long drive down the left side - perfect! No - in the left rough as the fairway is only 13 yards wide. Not really a fair play.
It is a challenge and if you and the group want to have some fun and not worry about scoring, then this course is for you. Good value for the price.
An Enjoyable Challenge
This was my first time playing the back tees at Greystone. changes to look of many holes and lets you experience a more challenging experience.
Had a blast.
Nice course
Course has a fun and challenging layout without being over the top. It’s first time friendly. Once you know the layout I could see it being very scoreable. Quarry holes were fun.
