Had fun, Plays Long, Disappointing Greens
Overall I had a great time. Got a hot deal on golf now for $26.50 so about half what they charge on the weekends. Driver on pretty much every hole from the back, plays soft and the course is framed beautifully by the trees with long drives between holes. Good mix of easy and hard holes and is unique in that there are no par 4s the last 5 holes. Only complaints were the slow play, took 5+ hours teeing off at 3:20 so we barely finished by dark, and the greens were too slow and soft for the price. Plus by the time we played there were so many spike marks around the holes 5-10 ft putts were nearly impossible to make
Great Greens
This course is beautiful. Tree lined fairways. The only people you see are the ones in the group ahead of you. From the white tees it's not very long. The layout forces different club selections from the tee. The greens are where this course stands out. They are receptive but still fast. A great equalizer for a shorter course. Only problem was the ranger telling us we were on pace but that we needed catch the group in front of us. Huh?
Up north feel
We played Cherry Creek for the 2nd time. I'm really a big fan of this course. The holes are spaced well away from each other, the greens are true and good speed. The pace of play is excellent in the morning. I'm excited to take my father to play. He hasn't been playing long and the courses he usually plays don't compare to up north feel to Cheery Creek.
CC one of the best
Cherry Creek continues to be one of the best courses in SE Michigan, along with it's two sister courses Pine Trace and Shepard's Hollow. I played on the July 4th Sunday and shot a really good round on some really good course conditions. The pace was also good for a holiday weekend with enough Ranger presence to keep things moving. An enjoyable afternoon, I had the pleasure of playing with a nice twosome. The entire facility is very impressive from the moment you enter the gate and make the drive to the clubhouse. The rest is as close to a private club experience you'll find anywhere without the $$$ fees. Mike Bylen definitely knows how to create a next level experience for the public course golfer. It's also nice to see the greens coming back after two horrible winters, but equally disappointing to see all the unrepaired ball marks left from inconsiderate golfers. C'mon golfers, if you can't respect the facility, stay off the course. One tip: play the course a few times as many of the holes are about placement and course management. The greens are tough but putt true. The four tee boxes give all level of golfer an equally good chance of scoring well and having an enjoyable round - the mark of a great golf course.
conditions
Not first time playing and will not be last time. The course was in pretty good shape. The greens need some work and the bunkers were not the softest. Overall always a good experience
great condition
We played Cherry Creek and the condition was very good, some greens needed some attention but mostly very good. fairways and tee decks were excellent. My only suggestion to the course is that they may put up signs to get to course as there is construction on the golf course road.
Great Morning Round
Booked a pre 7am round for $28 per player...course is normally $55. We only had a twosome and they paired us with another twosome...I wasn't a big fan of that but we played in just under four hours. I thought the course was well maintained and the greens rolled well. The restaurant wasn't open by 9am which was annoying and we couldn't use the range as it was being maintained early but I found the coirse to be pretty and the facilities nice. I would recommend for the price all day long.
Slow pace and inefficient rangers kill the experience at this course.
While the course was in great shape, it should neve take six hours to play a round. Rangers need to do a much better job of keeping the course moving and advance slow players by a hole or two if they are holding up play. And allowing foursomes behind us to skip in front when we went in at the turn to use the restrooms and grab a snack left us scratching our heads!!
Cherry Creek
First time I played this course; but played their sister courses Shepard's Hollow and Pine Trace previously. Overall a pleasant experience. The staff was friendly. Conditions were good, but there were some areas on the greens that were damaged, but we dealt with it. The sprinklers came on near the 8th green, but the spray actually felt pretty good...on/off on/off...I looked around to see if a kid was playing a joke on us. Play was a little slow...but for a weekend afternoon not unexpected, took 2 1/2 hours to play nine. After the round the food was good, reasonably priced.
I would play Cherry Creek again.
Greens need work
Greens are usually excellent here found a lot if bare spots
SLOW!!!
Cherry Creek, home of the 5 1/2 hour round. We played as a 4-some and waited on EVERY shot. The course was backed up for several groups. Cherry Creek had NO ONE in the course marshaling play. When we requested someone by calling from a 6th hole backup, he came out to report to us the obvious, play was backed up but he wasn't authorized to tell any customers to speed up play.
After the round, we were greeted by no one and unloaded our clubs ourselves and left.
Don't be fooled by the pretty clubhouse, this is a poorly run course with lousy customer service and PAINFULLY slow play. I wouldn't play again for $5.
hard course
Very challenging but clean n beautiful. Workers there are friendly but a bit pricey.
A photo op at every hole
Cherry Creek golf club has to be one of the best courses that I have played in years I would recommend it to anyonewell manicured fairways and greens the staff was excellent I will be back again
Cherry Creek Review
Greens were slow and need some work. Course as a whole, though, in good shape and fun to play.
Rough winter for the greens
Some of the greens had some pretty rough patches. The surface of the greens that where not affected rolled nice and true. I wouldn't be to thrilled to play this course at full price. Just happened to find a great deal online for some last minute golf
Should be better
As all other reviews, pace of play was unacceptable. Rangers were out but nothing got quicker. Started about a half hour after tee time & took about 5 hours to play. Beautiful course, friendly staff but the course wasn't in a shape commensurate with its regular price (okay for the deal we got through golfnow): greens had large patches of dirt/disease, bunkers not groomed & some had dandelions growing within. The guys we were paired with paid $50 for 9 holes -I would have been livid. I've played there a few times over the years but yesterday might have been the last.
Still early
The greens need work, but it is early still. The one major criticism I have with this coarse is it is pricey! Nice design and location. In general well maintained.
7 hour pace of play
We only played 9 holes but it took us over 3 1/2 hours. The course was overbooked and the older lady in the club house was rude because we were 4 minutes late for our tee time. It would make sense if we were holding groups up but we waited 25 minutes to tee off anyway. AVOID unless you want to play from sun up to sun down.
Great course to play
Course was moderately challenging. Conditions were pretty good, but it's still the beginning of the season. I will definitely be playing Cherry Creek again.
I feel like these other reviews are fake because every time i have golfed here has been over 5 hours per round and pace of play
