Nice track
Course was in great shape! Greens were challenging. Highly recommended!
Less than expected
I was severely disappointed with this course and will not be back.
Upon starting, myself and my buddy both got a lecture on the course rules from the ranger before even starting the course. He spoke to us like we were five years old. (Were both 30 year old business professionals dressed in full golf attire with collared shirts) All were just standard rules besides their cart rules
Their cart rules are a bit much:
- you cannot have carts on greens (standard) - but they took it a step further by roping off sometimes up to 50-75 yards off the fairway leading up to the green and causing you to park your cart on the cart path (which also has curbs so you can't drive up). While this seems fine and dandy, multiply this process across 18 holes and up to four people: They all have to park their cart, walk 50-75 yards to their ball, hit their shot (or multiple shots), putt (sometimes multiple times) and walk the 50-75 yards back to the cart. In addition, you cannot have carts on a par 3 at all... why? Is the fairway on the par 3s less sturdy than a par 4?! Say you short a shot... your stuck parking the cart on the cart path, walking 25-50 yards to your ball, hitting your shot and walking 25-50 yards back to the cart. ... driving to the green, and making the same walk all over again. the entire thing was just mind boggling and inefficient.
It took us 5 hours to play 18 holes (2 people)
And after playing the course and looking at the condition of the grounds - I'm honestly left wondering why all the cart rules? The grounds were not well kept. There was bald spots without any grass all over, weeds all over, on hole #1 there was huge set of tire tracks from a truck that ripped apart the fairway. Not to mention, the rough was so long, if you so happen to slip up and land a ball in it - good luck finding it.
Between the two of us - we probably lost ten balls over 18 holes that should've been in plain sight. We watched where they landed? We went right over there. No where to be found. Lost in the long rough because they apparently can't cut the grass. This process also slowed down the play because even the couple in front of us were constantly looking for balls that should've been in plain sight.
And what's with the tall grassy swamp hazards on some holes? That's not a hazard. Thats an eye sore. That doesn't make me think "wow, what a challenging course" - that makes me think "wow, this place looks like garbage"
Beer was expensive. 4 domestic beers cost me $28. And they wrap a sticker with their logo on it, which - I understand the theory behind it, but - I just thought it was tacky. If someone was to sneak beer on the course - are you really going to police everyone's beer can to make sure it has the sticker? Get real guys.
For the price this place charges and the snotty attitude that comes with it - id rather go to cheaper places with better grounds. Not worth the money and unenjoyable play.
Nice course
Really enjoyed my experience at this course. Only concern was getting stuck behind a group outing slowed us down on the back 9 but other than that it was great.
Course knowledge
Great practice area. Course in above average condition. I would be nice to have pin cards and a hole layout available.. too many doglegs and blind shots with no course layout available.
Hi bigfrankie, thank you for your positive comments regarding the course! We typically have a yardage guide that we hand out in the Pro- Shop to first time players of the course. After reading your review we realized that the Pro-Shop might not be the best spot for this, so we now have our Starters handing them out. Thank you for your comments, and we hope to see you again on the course so we can get you a book!
A solid course
if you haven't played here before it's worth checking out. They have a nice practice area with range, putting and chipping areas as well.
Hi kcompton83, glad to hear you had such a great time on the course! Is there anything we could have done to make this 5-stars? We always appreciate feedback. Feel free to give me a call at (586) 254-7700 or an email at eric.lubeck@cherrycreekgolf.com

Great round of golf
Had a great time on the golf course. Price was discounted so that was a bonus. Course was in great shape. Pace of play was excellent, no one slowing us down and noone pushing us. Staff was friendly and polite.
Thanks for the great review Jeff3417713! Hope to see you again soon.
Call
Great course but i will definitely call ahead if it rains before tee time because cart path only is the absolute worst way to play golf it's golf torture slow and agonizing.
Hi grandslammer,
Thanks for taking the time to review. Yes, when it is raining or immediately after a big rainstorm we only allow carts to be used on the path as a safety precaution. Hope to see you out here again on a bright sunny day!
Golf at Cherry Creek
Beautiful day and fun day golfing at this nice course. Hot deal on GolfNow was great.
Thanks for the review! We look forward to seeing you on the course in the future
Pace of play is too slow
I really want to like Cherry Creek, however I won't be returning anytime soon. The course is in great shape and a good value, but pace of play is far too slow on the weekends for an enjoyable round. This is my 3rd time playing here in 2 years. I've been paired up with other players each time and each round has taken 5+ hours. To me it looks like the course is overbooked with tee times set too close together resulting in slow play. There was easily a 15 minute wait past my tee time just to tee off on #1. For reference, I've teed off before 8 am each round on the weekends. I'll be playing elsewhere.

November Golf
Price was high for November golf compared to other comparable and better courses in the area. However, course was in terrific condition and staff was very friendly.
After work special
Tried to squeeze in 9 holes after work. Very nice course, and pace of play was excellent for late afternoon / early evening round. Course has lots of holes with forced carry or limited carry or both. This helped provide new challenges. Excellent condition, and greens were in good shape, although a little bit slower than previous time playing. Would like to go again
great course
Very nice course I would like to play it again
Pace of play???
Couse is a very difficult for someone of my age and handicap. For me the carries over swampy areas were too long. THE PACE OF PLAY WAS THE WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED! IT TOOK ALMOST SIX HOURS TO PLAY 18 Holes.!! The course was in very good condition.
Practice area second to none
Beautiful track. Challenging but fair. The practice area is amazing. Multiple putting greens. Chipping green, bunkers. It has it all.
Cherry Creek Aug 9, 2016 early morning
Course was well watered. There were clumps of cut grass in several of the fairways as lawn mowers were not collecting cuttings. Other than this one flaw course was in good shape. Group in front of us played very slow and let us go through them on third hole.
Enjoyable
The course is kept in good shape. Greens were slower than I would have liked. Every tee-time was booked so they had to group us with another 2-sum. Pace of play was kept up and staff was friendly. One of the nicer courses around that area. Will for sure play again
Cherry creek
Awesome course
Well kept compared to the courses around this 30 mile area
Hi travlncool, if you could please contact me at eric.lubeck@cherrycreekgolf.com, I'd love the opportunity to follow up!
Guys...some comments from another golfer - information for you to either throw out (but hopefully consider):
Par 3's: You should never drive a cart on the par 3 - if you are hitting the ball multiple times before you get to the green you should play an easier course
Length of Grass: There is a reason they call it the rough...grass should be longer and if you lose your ball (look for 2 - 3 minutes...if you can't find it drop another and keep playing). Check online for length of rough - Cherry's is very reasonable
Curbs and Distances: The reason Cherry installed curbs is to keep the area around the greens in good shape...the course is getting in better shape due to them roping and providing curbs. On any course you should have your cart back on the path within 60 yards of the green...
Swamp Hazard: Cherry is one of the more scenic public tracks...they have a good balance of water and where they let the reeds and cattails grow it is appropriate to the surrounding conditions.
Expense: Play a nice course, beer will cost more...welcome to real life (same at bars,, restaurants, etc...you want cheap, play goat tracks).
I play here with my buddies as a twosome...we complete in just over 3 hours. Lose a ball...oh well, hit another and get going. Same with hazards. Golf needs younger guys...try to keep an open mind, as your game improves I think you will grow to understand what they are doing at Cherry (when you get a chance go play a nice, private track...the things you complain about will be even more present (long rough, cattails around water hazards and restrictions on where you can drive carts. Stay patient, play fast, practice and enjoy the day...IMO your review of Cherry was unduly harsh and unfair...
