Need more par 5s
I think the course needs a few more par 5s, as the course sits, it's super short.
Great city course
I love playing Tara Hills during the week. You can get a fast 9 holes in. Enough challenging shots to keep you wanting to come back. I play here 4 to 6 times a summer.
Bang for the buck
We played on a "golfnow.com" special of $15 plus fees/taxes, so $20 to ride 18 at this quality course was nice. Despite the sleet and mid 30 temps, our threesome had a nice outing.
Short But Challenging Layout
This was my 1st time playing Tara Hills. I played the Friday after Thanksgiving so conditions will definitely be different in Spring or Summer. My nephew and I had a blast playing downwind - driving a few greens on their par 4s, thanks to the breeze, firm and fast conditions. Holes into the wind were extremely challenging as they required 2-3 additional clubs. It isn't a long course. Many of the par 4 lefts us with 9-irons to wedges. But there's plenty of elevation changes making it a very fun course where, in places, accuracy is a must. The staff was extremely welcoming and even discounted my rate when my 2nd player turned out to be a junior golfer. I'll be back the next time I'm in Nebraska.
Always a good time
Play this course fairly often never disappoints it was a fun round of golf with a group of buddies, course was in overall good shape but it looked like they just rolled and sanded the greens which really affected the putting surface (which was frustrating). We teed off @ 530 and played 9 holes with a cart for $15 (Cant beat that!), and finished in an just barely over 1h 45m, pace of play was good other golfers were courteous. All in all for the money cant complain would recommend for the average joe golfer
Neat course
Not a long course, but a nice layout, with most of those holes having their own character. I would play it again.
Good Day of Golf
Quick pace of play, course conditions good, semi-fast greens, and friendly staff.
Considering we played on a holiday, our round moved along well and did not have to wait on any hole except par 3's which is normal. Course was in good condition, well maintained, and greens were smooth and were relatively fast. The course has some interesting holes but is not too challenging for a high handicap player. Like every course in Omaha that has water, there is a goose problem, and they leave presents in various places.
Quick round
Got 18 in very quickly. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wish I had played better.
Slow play could have been avoided
I like playing this course and the staff is always great at both Tara and Eagle Hills. But...you should NEVER allow walking fivesomes let alone having two of them in a row on a weekend.
Many golf courses don't even allow walkers on weekends and I don't want to say they shouldn't be allowed but if you are going to allow them, please limit them to four and maybe split them up. I am so glad we only played 9 because 18 would have taken 5 hours.
Great Short Course
Wonderful course from tees to greens. We played from the White tees and the track clocked in at just barely 6000 yds so very short.
Fairways were lush and greens were in solid shape, although a little inconsistent.
Neat layout where course management can make your life easier.
An Average-Long tee shot on most holes will leave you with a very manageable approach shot and many opportunities for a Green-In-2.
Only downside is no driving range, however you can head over a little earlier to the sister course at Eagle Hills for one of the nicer ones in the 402 area.
Course great, not friendly
I have golfed this course 2 times. Each time the same guy was working the front desk. Each time the guy acted very arrogant and clearly doesn't know about customer service. Other than that the rest of the staff was nice and the golf course was very nice.
First Time out for the season
The course is pretty good. The greens play pretty fast I love the fact that you had to actually think about your shot to the green. And the fairways are really really nice overall pretty great course for Nebraska I would definitely tell my friends to come from Iowa.
A fun course
The course was in great shape, especially the greens. It's one of the more underrated courses in Nebraska.
Love the course. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only suggestion would be to somehow change the lay out of the 18th hole.
One of the great public courses around Omaha
Staff is great. You got to change # 18
No ranger in sight
After 1 hour and 50 minutes we had just finished hole 6. Tee box at 7 had two groups on it so we just left. As drove by hole 9 there was a foursome teeing off so we politely waited as each person in their foursome hit two balls. There was nobody in front of this foursome so we found the slowness issue. Went to the clubhouse to let the guy know, and his response was the ranger leaves at 3pm. Totally unacceptable. I should have asked for my money back, but the guy at the counter did not really care about the issue.
