This green tucked away on the par-5 5th is my favorite on the course. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 04/15/2021

The par-4 8th is an intimidating tee shot, like so many here. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 04/15/2021

The greens putted better than they looked and many looked better than this one. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 04/15/2021

The Shattuck is home to many narrow fairways with elevated tees. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 04/15/2021

terrible condition
Dont waste your money its all target golf. Course is in terrible condition every green but 3 are burned out. Fairways have a lot of dirt and weeds in them. Lots of bunkers have weeds growing in them. There was even one hole where the pin was on the fringe because green was so bad. The only thing this place has going for it is the views.
Very friendly
Every employee went out of their way to be helpful for us and we will surely go back because of that.
Great Deal
The course was in good shape and the deal was super! No hassles when we arrived, just a nice welcome and a "thanks for coming". Can't ask for anything else and the deal was super. I am a believer in GOLFNOW and will return again and again!
scenic, but plunishing
Forget your driver, this is target golf. With dense woods and thick marshes, your in the fairway, or digging for more balls. Greens are decent, but everything else is sparse on grass. Not the place for novices or golfers expecting great scores. Most bearable when you have secured a deep discount tee time.
Must play for fall
Shattuck in the fall is a must play. It is at the base of Mt Monadnock and the views are amazing. Couple rough spots on course after a dry season, but for the most part in good shape. It is target golf and requires 150 yard carry in couple spots.
Unique holes
You must be able to carry your ball if you want to enjoy playing this course. Wonderful advantage for women, yet still some very challenging holes. It is unlike most courses in the area. Bring lots of extra balls!!!
Difficult course with beautiful scenery
Though very challenging, this is an interesting course with a lot of character. Get the guide so you know all the yardages. It'll help a lot.
At least it's pretty...
The Shattuck GC is a shell of its former championship golf self. I've played here twice and each time the course was in poor condition; uneven fairways, clumpy, unkept rough, and greens that were fast only because they lacked grass in many spots.
That said, even when the course was in pristine shape, it' can be an unpleasant place to play. I've played 43 different golf courses in 5 states, this is the hardest course I've played, and it's not challenging in a way that makes you want to get better. It's challenging in way that makes you want to cry. Blind landing zones for your tee shots, boulders everywhere waiting to send your ball bouncing in any direction, and woods everywhere that are not play-through. Anyone with even a moderate handicap should come prepared with at LEAST a dozen balls, because you'll probably lose one every other hole.
On the positive side, the staff is very friendly and may even give you a discount if it's slow or the off-season, and the views of Mount Monadnock are beautiful. Playing this course in the fall may be the thing that makes your round redeemable. But even then, I recommend Crotched Mountain GC or Brentwood GC.
