Mattawang Golf Club
About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Always in really good shape
Course is always in really good shape. Most times the pace of play is good, yesterday was bad. No ranger on the course to keep things moving and there was a super slow 4some. My past experiences though have been great. Just one of those days....
Dano, glad to see you are back for another season. I know you enjoy fast rounds but there was a ranger on the course Wednesday. The golf course was playing difficult and the ranger was focusing on those that needed more attention then the quicker players.
Terrible Fairways
Fairways are in terrible shape. Most you can’t find a grass spot to place your ball. Greens are ok but clearly haven’t been cut yet.
Peter, sorry to see your unhappiness after all the rounds you have played here.
We were under water restrictions the end of last summer and could only water Greens and Tees. At this point we can only wait until Mother Nature warms to grow all the seeding that was done over the fall.
An fyi - the greens have been cut and rolled since the March 24 and 90% of our golfers have commented on how exceptional they are rolling for the first week of April.
Thank you for playing Mattawang this winter. We are glad to see you enjoyed your round.
Cold day
My tee time was delayed due to frost for 1hr. Played the course by myself. Was fun to work on somethings. The course was in great shape.
Good course year round
Course doesn’t get beat up like many other courses. Stays consistently good throughout year. Rough was a little tall for my liking today but otherwise well maintained
Good Value, Designed for good pace of play.
Forgiving tee shots with lots of room too miss and still have a playable ball. Of course that also means there is cross traffic and lots of "fores". Fairly flat for a nice walk. They have a liberal cart policy which also improves pace of play on most days. I've played half a dozen times in the hot summer and never seen a beverage cart in operation. Only a couple holes (three) with forced carry hazards which also adds to good pace of play and a generally friendly course for intermediate golfers. There's definitely some holes you'll remember, definitely some holes you'll forget.
Greens couple use some work
Overall a pretty good course. Greens were in bad shape. Mostly dirt patches. Tee boxes also a bit spongey
Course conditions
We've played Mattawang for years, they lost alot of the fairways last fall due to disease. Fairways have started to come back, but the greens are in terrible shape. Again they appear diseased, there are products to address these issues folks.
Very very disappointed in course conditions.
The course is not maintained well. The fairways are all crab grass everywhere. I paid $77 to play… it’s not even worth $40. Very disappointed in the courses conditions. It rained the night before we played and none of the sand traps were raked out, puddles all in them.
Go play it!
Great layout. Good conditions. Friend ly staff. Fun to play
Thanks Tim, we appreciate you making the trip from PA
Aeration
Did not know it was being aerated and only could play front 9 twice.
Sorry you missed all the course alerts online that stated we were doing the work and you would be playing the same nine twice.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, glad to see you enjoyed your visit.
