Situated midway between Belvidere and Oxford, Apple Mountain Golf & Country Club has been recognized as one of New Jersey's must-play courses. The course was built on an apple orchard, providing fragrant apple blossoms in the spring and colorful foliage in the fall. The unique design was built on a hillside, which in itself presents many challenges to golfers. The dramatic elevation changes from pin to green present difficult lies on the approach shot. There is no sand on the golf course, but with water on 11 holes, and demanding greens, sand traps will hardly be missed. A local magazine dubbed Apple Mountain Golf & Country Club's signature 17th hole one of the most perfect in the state. This par-6 hole was once the site of a ski slope. The hole doglegs down a mountain with treacherously positioned trees along the right.

Sadly Course Has Closed
I played the course the last year it was open. I remember many of the holes and the great terrain. I guess the course was "too far away" for most.
GOOD AND BAD
The worker in the club house was a super nice guy. The scenery and views while playing golf were phenomenal. The greens were in good shape; but, challenging, as some of the greens were very sloped. The not-so-good aspects were that the fairways were in bad condition - from the tee box, right up to the green fringes. It looks like the course does not drain well. Many times (might have even been most times), I had to move my ball, so it would be on a patch of decent grass - and this was on the "fairway". On one fairway, I tapped on the brake (was not going fast), and my cart did a "180". I have played Apple Mountain before, and it was not like this. One last thing, the carts really were in deplorable condition. If I do go again, hopefully, it will be in drier conditions.
Disappointing
The course did not come close to my expectations. A friend who played there before said how the place had deteroirated.
The layout is ok so I could see why it was once a nice track. Some interesting and pretty holes but the course is in very bad shape. The fairways are beaten up. The greens are quite spotty
Tee boxes are particularly awful.
The cart paths, notably, are awful as well. Badly broken up
Outstanding value
Played a round with a cart and lunch for $30. Course was in good condition. Food was excellent as always. Only thing this place needs is better signage and new cart paths.
Excellent value
Played 18 holes with a cart and lunch that included 2 beers and a burger with fries for $30. How can you beat that? You can’t. Food was excellent,
Staff was very nice and the course was perfect. A great day altogether. Couldn’t ask for more.
Nice Sunday with my son and friends
Very HOT but still was a very enjoyable afternoon.
Greens were very lush and thick, a bit slow but were understandable the previous days HEAVY rainfall. All of the course was fun to play and a bit different than most courses with the elevated greens. Spectacular views!
I will definitely go back to play it again soon.
Thanks!
nice day
played with a few friends, it's been many a year since I played here.....greens in very good condition but quite slow, fairways pretty rough and very dry. staff was extremely nice and friendly.....love the views of the Gap
Much Improved Course
Had a great round! 2 advide golfers. 12-15 handicap. Pro shop staff are always warm and welcoming. Teed off on time. Pace of play was excellent. Finished in 3hrs and 15 min. I played here for last 5 years and it gets better every time! This year the fairways are on point! And as always, the putting greens are fenominal! Ball rolls true. Owner does an awesome job with manicure and seeding of the putting greens. The 19th hole is always worth waiting for after a good round. Food and service are excellent. Best value around. Give it a try!
Excellent Course, but...
I was pleasantly surprised by Apple Mountain.
The course is in absolutely wonderful condition, except several of the tee boxes were in some sorry shape. On some the turf would barely hold up the tee on one other it was so hard I broke two tees.
This course is fun and challenging with some nice turns and, of course, plenty of uphill and downhill decisions about your club choices.
Overall the fairways and greens are in great shape...but... I don't like courses without signs pointing the way to the next tee box. If we were not paired with players who had golfed there before we would have been lost.
One other issue that bothered me: when we showed up to play, the pro shop gave me attitude and a hard time about paying the GolfNow rate, the proceded to bad mouth GolfNow as irksome to deal with. He begrudgingly gave me the rate (after I showed him my confirmation) but this has happened at many courses. I feel if you do not want to deal with GolfNow then sever ties.
Overall I recommend Apple Mountain and we will be going back!
Fairways need to be mowed better but they've had a lot of rain did a good job for what they have
Greens in great shape.
Course is challeging and fun to play. Greens and fairways are in good shape. Cart paths are rough, better to ride the grass.
Directional signage needs improvement or is non-existent. Even so, I will be back.
Very pleasant round....
30 years ago I walked this course every week. How did I do that? Maybe the hills have gotten steeper....
Anyway, after being away for many years here are my impressions - The greens are in very good shape, as is the rest of the course. The layout is a little awkward, but challenging - lots of uphill lies and elevated greens to deal with. The views make a bad round seem worthwhile! I recommend trying Apple Mountain - especially on a nice day!
Challenging
Placement shots are key, plays on the side of a mountain so the holes play up and down, greens are blind and elevated, not one for a beginner
