Ron Jaworski's Valleybrook Country Club
About
Ron Jaworski's Valleybrook Golf Club is one of South Jersey's most popular public courses. It's a local favorite not only because of the affordable rates but also for the challenging design. The diverse terrain provides the classic layout with a mix of flat and hilly holes. On some holes you can expect elevation changes from tee to green. It's a golf course that will keep you on your toes. It will test your accuracy with its narrow, tree-lined fairways and the elevation changes throughout the course make proper club selection essential. Water hazards also appear on nine occasions. The course has appeal for players of all skill levels. It's player-friendly enough for beginners while advanced players will enjoy the many risk-reward opportunities. There is also a driving range available at Valleybrook Golf Club.

Reasonable Valued Course But Please Improve The Pace of Play
PROS
- Despite not playing here for 3+ years, the course is properly maintained. Fairways are kept on the "less patchy" side and greens were flush
- Staff are friendly
- There is a driving range onsite with chipping and putting greens
- Even though we didn't buy any beverages, it was nice to see the cart girl circle by on multiple occasions
NEUTRAL
- Average Course layout
- Fair conditioned Tee Boxes/Bunkers
CONS
- Valleybrook needs to do a better job at managing tee times / sending their ranger out to speed up play. Our group was scheduled to play at 12:27 PM and we didn't hit our first tee shot until 12:40. Very frustrating when you finish each hole and the group in front just finishes teeing off or has yet to all hit. 100% destroys the vibe and rhythm for the round. At one of the holes, the group ahead of us even apologized for their pace. I told them it's not their fault when the group ahead of you is SLOW. Daylight savings doesn't help the cause, but fully knowing the sunset time, the three of us fully expected to finish all 18. We only finished 16 holes! A big letdown as I was on pace to break my lowest round ever.
- Need to keep your head on a swivel on the uphill/downhill holes (6, 7, 8, 9, 10) due to them being next to one another. Our group had balls hit in close proximity and others were in the same boat. Be prepared (and hopefully) you hear "FORE LEFT! or FORE RIGHT!". These sets of holes as well as a few others give way to blind shots were the group behind you thinks they are in the clear when frankly they are not. Had a few run ins where a ball trickled close behind or to the left or right without warning. Quite dangerous!
SUMMARY
I wouldn't consider Valleybrook an overly challenging or mesmerizing course by any means, but checks the boxes for the average golfer looking to have some fun. Those who routinely drive it straight and relatively far shouldn’t have any issues on their Green in Regulation attempts, as it's not a long course. Glad to see positive course conditions. I'd certainly add Valleybrook to the rotation again, as long as the prices stay reasonable and hopefully there isn't a MAJOR issue with pace of play next time. That sort of issue will deter myself as well as players elsewhere (especially if it happens a 2nd time).
Everyman's Course getting better
Have been playing VB since it was Blackwood CC way back. Ron Jaworski Golf has upgraded all of their golf facilities and Valleybrook is no exception. The course was always his first and most public of all of the layouts with moderate challenges and fair condition. Conditions have improved dramatically and even the rough only has minimal crabgrass. Tee boxes are a bit thin, bunkers inconsistant, but greens and fairways were perfect. All things going in a positive direction , of course the price to play has also increased.
Bring less than driver. Varied clubs off the tee
Varied clubs off the tee. Shorter porch than most area courses. Even one of the par 5’s only requires a well struck 3 wood to get home in two comfortably from the tips. Downhill 475 yards dogleg right.
Plenty of par 4 holes where drive not needed on. Accuracy needed.
Good from tee to green
Played this course while visiting family. Course is in great shape and a good pace of play. I will be back.
Tough one to Review
The staff, bar and cart girl were great. Definitely could tell they were well managed and trained.
Overpriced
Jaws courses are all overpriced for the conditions and tee times staggered too close together.
Also, some of the bridges feel like they are going to collapse at any moment.
Fairway or Rough?
I'm not sure how often they mow the fairways and tee boxes but hitting out of the fairway is basically the same as hitting out of short rough. For what these guys charge, the fairways should be pristine. Greens were in pretty good condition but very very slow. Jaws loves to overcharge but he gets away with it because there's limited options out there. Atleast if you're gonna charge that much take better care of the tee boxes, fairways and greens.
It's just okay
Let me start off by saying it was a holiday weekend. That in mind, our tee time was fairly early and right away there were delays in the pace of play. The group infront of us had a walker, something I do not normally see approved on weekends or at least the beginning of the day. The staff was not particularly unfriendly, but nothing to write home about.
The course itself, is just odd. There were so many locations on this course where you might be right up to a previous hole, and really have to keep your head on a swivel for random golf balls that could land near you. Some of the fairways were a bit dead, not many though.
This was not a bad course by any means, but for what we paid for a round, I've played many much nicer courses.
