Nobody Home

We showed up 1/2 hour early for our 10:50 AM round. We found the pro shop closed and locked. No answer at telephone. Another couple showed up also had a 1050 teatime. Waited around until 1110 and left. Very poor planning, supervision. Golf now needs to have a serious talk with the staff of this facility. Blair Academy course.

The course was closed

Golf Now took then reservation and I have paid for 2players by Credit card. But the course was closed for the season. I should claim for a refund but Not sure where to contact. Disappointed on how the online booking is managed , even offering closed course as active.

Great for a quick play.

Nice little 9-Hole course winding through Blair Academy. The greens are small as the course defense but found them level and very puttable. Lot of fun for mid week tune up before your regular Sunday foursome. Make sure to listen to the directions at the pro shop for getting around the course. Needs more signage to direct players to the next tee box.

Some narrow fairways

First time playing course. Advantage of being a 9 hole course with several blind shots and a few tight fairway, is you play it twice and make the necessary adjustments.
The pace of play Saturday morning was great.
Course is in good shape and well maintained.
Enjoyed outing, will play there again.

$17 for 9 walking!?

This course was not worth that kind of money. It rained on the day we went and we called before didn't metion it was walking only. After arriving was unfriendly when. We asked to get compensation. The schools practice fields were greener then the course was. At only 9 holes around a highschool I don't think that this is anywhere near the money that they are trying to charge.

Short but tight course - enjoyed it

The course is clearly an old style layout. It's very narrow at times and that helps add some challenge considering it's not particularly long. There are also some tough angles. I wouldn't call it a difficult course but you have to hit good shots to score well. You have to be straight and accurate. The fairways are certaintly not plush but they are for the most part ok. There isn't a lot of rough but with the narrow fairways you don't want any. The greens were in great shape and rolled very well.

It was the first time I played the course and it was perfect for a quick round to work on my game. I paid less than 20 dollars and definitely a value play. If you're looking for manicured and heavily landscaped this isn't your course. I'd describe it as rustic. I'll be back as I enjoyed it..

awful

The greens were pitch and putt size. The fairways were all dirt. My buddy and I could of played 18 but it was so bad we stopped after 7 holes.

Challenging Layout

I played Blair for the first time in about 20 years and was reminded what a challenging golf course it is. Tight, unforgiving fairays on many holes, together with severe punishment for the slightest mishit make it a good test of your skills. The design of the course is very clever and it is suprisingly difficult.

The fairways and sand hazards are below average and I did not notice any irrigation for the fairways. Some areas had crabgrass and other spots in the fairway were burnt out. However I did rate the conditions as average because the greens were in great shape and had some speed to them.

If you offended by the somewhat "rustic" fairways and hazards this course is not for you. But if you are willing to just play it as it lies and enjoy the true 1930's design of the course, you can have a great time. It was a weekday and the course was not crowded and I finished 18 holes in about 3 hours playing as alone with a cart. It was very relaxing and enjoyable and I will be back.

This course is in good shape

Course is in good shape . Greens are fast but fair. My only critique would be that the sand traps need quite a bit of work.

Great greens for a public course

The course has some beautiful holes and is enjoyable. Be careful driving the golf cart because the cart paths are in bad shape and if the grass is moist, the hilly terrain makes it easy to lose control.

The staff is wonderful and the course draws a friendly clientele.

Nice place to play a relaxed round.

Nice 9 hole course with a lot of interesting holes. Lots of elevation changes, tight fairways, and greens that putt true. Very relaxed atmosphere.

This course has 3 blind doglegs within first 5 holes.

This is a challenging course with doglegs where you can't see where the green is unless you ride ahead which causes confusion and wastes time. The greens are in great condition. I reccomend bringing extra balls and riding instead of walking.

Excellent Layout and fun to play

I played Blair Academy, a challenging 9 hole golf course, on a somewhat windy June afternoon. The course has a great layout (2 par 5's, 4 par 4's and 3 par 3's) smallish greens, holes with tight to very tight fairways, changes in elevation and some blind shots. I walked the course and found it easy to get around but when walking, one needs to factor in some extra distance b/w the 4 green and the 5th tee box, 6th green and the 7th tee Box and the 7th green and the 8th tee box. The course finishes up near the athletic fields so there is fun reminder of being on the Blair Campus.

Playing it twice was a pleasure.

The staff is very friendly and everyone who I ran into was welcoming.

On the constructive side, some of the fairways were a little treadbare in spots, the grass a little patchy in some spots around the green and sand traps did not have any "fresh" sand. A putting green may also be a suggested improvement. Saying that, the greens ran true and for the money Blair represents a value play. I am a 18 index and I shot a 96 from the white tees (51 / 45 (w/ two lost balls when I played the 9th hole on my first 9). I would definately play it again.
