woodlands ? should be wetlands
water comes in play in almost all the holes ..not a bad thing , just reminder ..great rate on golfnow. the only reason we played here , very short course so play from the tips.
Great conditions
course is in great shape, staff got me out a few minutes early
First timer
With the heavy rain the night before the course was in great condition. Some greens were getting aerated, outside of that and the bugs the course is great.
Ok
No one seems to replace divots, fairway was very wet. The greens were ok no winter damage was present but also no one repaired ball marks. Would play again if price was under $30.00.
Rough w/e round
Golfing as a twosome, we found ourselves caught between two large party groupings then another foursome jumped in front of us at the turn and the ranger didn't correct it. Found it hard to get any consistency.
My previous time here about 5 weeks ago, the ranger rushed us off the course around 8:40pm...probably will not play here again.
Great short course
Me and my guys are always looking for new courses to play on Golfnow. Unable to find a new course that fit our time frame so we went back to an old reliable in the Woodlands. I think this is a great course for anybody but especially short hitters. I'm about 240 off the tee so that puts a short iron or wedge in my hands on most holes from the middle tees. Longer hitters can play from the back and add 20+ yards on just about every hole. I said it was a short course not easy. If you don't keep it in the fairway the rough is just that and the hazards are unforgiving. A 327 yard possibe birdie hole can turn into a double very easily. Another thing I like about the course is the pace of play. We're usually right around 3 1/2 at the Woodlands. It's a nice crowd but never overcrowded even on the weekend. Make it your business to get your group out here at least once this summer.
Many Options off the tee, Great Condition
First time playing Woodlands this year and I was very impressed. The course is only 6,200 yds from the back tees but this makes the course fun. Many holes present a variety of options off the tee allowing the more aggressive player to hit driver and the conservative player to hit mid irons. The course condition was great and I couldn't find a single area that was out of shape all day. There was a fair amount of players on the course and we still played 18 holes in 3 hours as a twosome. I will play this course again this season.
Nice course
Good course, played behind a slow group. Overall a well maintained course.
Nice greens
Course is shorter and not overly challenging. Nice layout not just boring back and forth like some other similar length courses. Greens rolled very very well.
Nice All Around
The course is well maintained and good for all player levels. It is not very long so better players can score well. However, it is not boring as every hole has some aspect of water, sand, or tall grass that keeps you cogniscent of accuracy. The only downside really was the landfill odor. When I played this course over ten years ago, that wasn't there. It was noticeable for much of the front 9. The back 9 has enough trees to block most of it.
great day after rainfall
the day before was all down pours so I wasn't expecting a great conditioning. Expecting puddles after puddle after puddles when I got there and staff was friendly the inside and outside conditioning looks amazing. Course was in great shape only play 5 holes befor more downpours but even the five holes was enjoyment.
challenging but fair
Course plays well but the smell from the landfill next door is somewhat overbearing on a few holes
Badly backed up on a late Sunday afternoon.Fairways and greens in poor condition.
I thought this would be a good bargain for $25.00, but the fairways have a lot of un-repaired divots, with divots littering up the fairways. Too many ball marks on the greens to count. Looked like there was a hail storm. Pace of play was insane, I played 7 holes in 2:15 minutes due to the pace of play of the golfers in front of me and in front of them. Left after 7 holes, could not take it any longer, no fun. No ranger on course to keep things moving. $4.00 for a small bucket of range balls, had about 12 balls in the bucket. Never again.
very slow play
not sure of there policy on putting groups together, but there were way two many two somes on the course making play extremly slow over 5 hours for a short course.
Nice greens
Pretty frustrating to be following a slow group the whole time. After the turn it was worse. Seems the twilight groups had been sent off the back. I asked myself "why would they do this?" That was a real downer to follow a slow group(s) on the front and then get behind multiple groups of hacks. I'd never play there at 12:30 again.
Fun to play
The Woodlands is a good course for the intermediate player. Although a shorter course it’s well laid out. Open enough to allow for a wayward tee shot, but difficult enough in the right places (i.e. holes 12 & 14) for better players to rise to the occasion. The fairways are well kept but there were a lot of ball marks on the greens that need repaired but that is a sign of the times, not the fault of the course.
Reasonably priced, challenging and beautiful setting.
I totally enjoy playing this course. Nestled in lovely woods, with just enough water and marshes to make it a challenging and fun course. The price is right for an enjoyable get away for a few hours.
Totally recommend to anyone.
Fairways and greens in great shape
The course had some drainage issues after a prior night's rainfall and there were some areas of standing water in the fairways. Then there are many areas of water hazard often strategically placed and requiring carrys or caution off the tee. A lot of short holes but overall a good variety of hole lengths. Very scenic course with few if any visible homes. Mosquitoes were a bit problematic and this course could be swarming at dusk with all the water on it.
Fairways and greens were most impressive - near country club quality. Nice grooming around the greens too. Most of the sand traps had standing water in them.
Challenging but very playable.
Well maintained course that will challenge the casual golfer without frustrating. Coupled with a friendly staff makes for an enjoyable afternoon.
