Somerset County courses put this course to shame
Although I’m a resident of Middlesex County - Monmouth Junction I have not played this course in over 20 years. Having read some of the reviews I did have reservations about whether I should play here or not but I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I have to say I will not go back there again for a very long time. The West course was the only course available being that the East Course was totally under reconstruction and closed. I would assume for the balance of 2021.
I booked my tee time within the 24 hour window so I was committed to play. We had bad thunderstorms in the area the previous night so it was Cart path only. Portions of the course were flooded and the sand traps were washed out or solid as rocks. Not one single divot hole was fixed (I put that on the staff not asking guests to help and fix them before letting them tee off). Knowing that this will be the only course available for 2021 things will only turn worst.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I have played at about 20 golf courses across NY/NJ and this was far and away the worst. Fairways were flooded/unplayable and it didn’t even rain. Rough area/trees line filled with garbage and debris, not to mention the ticks I found on me. The icing on top was the group of four we finally decided to pass on the fifth hole, as they were playing at an 8 hour pace! Maybe if it was cheaper than the surrounding courses I would consider but this place is a mess and fairly expensive.
Course was ok
There was no one at the first tee box. People were cutting the tee times. We didn’t tee off till 4:50. People left golf carts everywhere. And pace of play was extremely slow. I play a lot of courses and this was a waste on money
Tamarack
Course is convenient but the rough grass makes it difficult to find your ball. Grass needs to be cut more often. Overall, course is recommended for practice.
Backed up
Booked to play 18, ended up playing 9. Took 2.5 hours to play 9. Pace of play not enforced. Tee time schedule very lax.
COURSE IS A WRECK
Aside from the greens being aerated, from tee to green the course is absolutely tore up. Great layout, needs some major TLC
Worse and worse
Worse and not friendly staff. No ranger and slow pace of round.
Staff no care of pace of round. Too many beginners and no etiquette.
Frost delay, I was not able to play. Waited two hours for them to finally allow us to play.
Pace nightmare
The pace of play on the course today was the worst I’ve ever seen in 25 years of playing golf. Teed off at 140pm and did not finish before light was gone. Called the clubhouse for help but nothing happened of course. Par 3 14th (started round on 10) two groups on tee box us and group ahead of us, one group on the green, 2 groups on 15th tee box, one group on 15th fairway. I don’t even know how that happens?!?! Tee times were 10 minutes in between, so someone explain to me how that happens, why, where, what??! If it takes u 4 shots and you are still less then 250 yards away from the green, don’t step foot on a golf course until that is at least cut in half. No course should ever allow this or anything even close to it. Sad day for golf on the perfect weather golf day and best day in 6 months for golf. Tragic.
