Old Orchard Country Club
About
Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Spring is here
First nice weather in some time, great to play at old orchards. Generally course was “ok,” which is to say it was in good shape considering all the bad weather. Still using fall setup, but still fun. Greens growing in nicely, fairways mowed and tee boxes neat. Many trees and scrubs have been cleared really improving playability. More forgiving. Looking forward to more rounds at Old Orchard.
Worse golf course, everything was horrible
tee boxes were filled with alot of dirt, No fairways on any hole, I lost ten ProV titleist balls. The rough was terrible you would loose ball if you hit in the rough because of the dandelions that were all over the course even their so called fairways. Water in some sand bunkers even had weeds growing in three of their sand bunkers. I recommend to have this course deleted from Golf Now. Also two of my friends started a fight because they were tired of looking for their balls which was taking at least 15 minutes to look for before you just would drop another ball. We all took off to enjoy our golf day in which we lost a day's pay to play the worst golf course around. I really would like to get a refund for all four golfers because this course was not worth playing.
Poor conditions
There was no distinction between rough and fairway. The “fairway” had dandelions everywhere which made it tough to find your ball. The “fairway” would have been considered too tall to play a soccer game on. $60 was unacceptable for the condition of the course.
Don’t Do It
Shockingly bad course 😂. No tee boxes, no fairways, and putting greens are equivalent to a gravel road. Other than that it’s great!
Poor conditions
Greens were disease-ridden and the cart paths were really poor.
Very sad that this course has not had proper maintenance in years. Just sell the property and build condos
Save your Money
I dont know who wrote that long poem of a review a few posts ago (maybe an employee) but this is the worst course i have ever played. This course is in ownership/management transition and nothing is being done to maintain the course during.
Play another course unless you can play this one for less than $10
Old orchard
I love this place it’s right around the corner from my work and it’s an awesome layout for a golf course! Really cool spot the staff is awesome always friendly and willing to help. Conditions are a bit rough sometimes but I’m no pro golfer so I don’t mind. Great spot to play 18 holes if you ask me!
A Memorable Experience at Old Orchard Country Club
I had the pleasure of playing at the Old Orchard Country Club, marking my first time teeing off on an American golf course. While it proved to be the most challenging course I've ever encountered, the overall experience was thoroughly enjoyable.
The standout feature of Old Orchard was undoubtedly its difficulty level. The course presented a formidable challenge, demanding precision and strategy in every swing. The 13th hole, in particular, stood out as the pinnacle of difficulty. Its layout required a perfect balance of power and finesse, making it a true test of skill. Navigating this hole was an exhilarating challenge that added an extra layer of excitement to the round.
Despite the course's demanding nature, I found immense joy in every aspect of the game. Old Orchard's unique design and the meticulous craftsmanship of each hole showcased the essence of American golf. The course's charm lay not just in its difficulty, but in the sheer pleasure derived from overcoming each obstacle.
One of the highlights of the round was the unforgettable 7th hole. The green, set like a picturesque island, added a delightful twist to the game. The challenge was not only in reaching the green but also in executing precise wedge shots to ensure a successful play. This hole exemplified the kind of strategic thinking and skillful execution that make golf such a rewarding sport.
Old Orchard Country Club, with its challenging layout and memorable features, provided an unforgettable introduction to American golf courses. The experience, though demanding, was a testament to the craftsmanship and thoughtfulness invested in the course's design. I left Old Orchard with a sense of accomplishment, having conquered a challenging course and created lasting memories on the greens. I look forward to returning to this exceptional golfing haven and tackling its unique challenges again.
Could be one of the best in NJ but
The course layout is one of the best but unfortunately the current owner doesn’t invest enough In maintenance.
I was told the course was sold to developers and the owners are no longer maintaining.
Great place if you are a beginner because the fairways and Greens are not maintained and you will learn quickly how to play out of the rough 😀
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the lack of maintenance. We appreciate your kind words about the course layout and value your feedback as we continue to improve.
You get what you pay for.
This place is unfortunately not worth the price of admission. The greens are bumpy, the fairways are not upkept. I was lucky enough to get a hot deal and not pay double. There are much better courses around that are worth the price for a little bit more.
This place has gone downhill. The last time I played here was 3 years ago and nothing changed.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize for any negative experience you had during your visit and appreciate your feedback.
