Flanders Valley Golf Club - White/Blue Course
About
Flanders Valley Golf Course has received praise as not only one of the best public golf courses in New Jersey, but also as one of the best in the U.S. Flanders offers two 18-hole championship courses, White-to-Blue and Red-to-Gold. The courses are spread across over 400 acres of Morris County's idyllic countryside. The White-to-Blue Course has a more traditional layout that sprawls across mostly flat terrain. The golf course may lack elevation changes but there are an abundance of mature trees to contend with on either side of the course, making it very tight in some spots. One of the most memorable holes is the par-4 14th, nicknamed "Top and Right." This slight dogleg left hole has a pond bordering the entire left side of the fairway.

Pretty, memorable finisher! Photo submitted by MarkMolyneux on 11/16/2015
Fairways soaked and bunkers not playable
Course was still drying out from previous heavy rain. Lots of Fairways soaked. Many bunkers if not all were filled with water. Rough was think.
Should get better as course dries out.
Very Nice & Enjoyable! Recommended!!
Played the Blue & White and enjoyed both w 2 nice locals (Amy & Kevin) who were helpful and a pleasure to meet. The courses were in good condition except due to the rain in the AM, ruled 'cart path only' and although the layouts are fairly flat, looking & walking to your balls made the pace (5 hrs!) much slower. The greens were in pretty good shape, fairways and tee boxes were soft (from rain) but ironically the bunkers were hard and rocky (need help).
The food stand concession needs faster, easier procedures to get serviced efficiently. But, overall had an enjoyable time and look forward to trying the Gold & Red. (Hopefully with open cart pathways).
Nice Muni Course
Wide fairways and large greens, few obstructions. Greens are moderate speed, uneven at times but good considering the amount of play the course gets.
Fairways are reasonable and the rough is playable so as to move play along. Most holes are straight forward with little water. Traps are minimal but sand is hard in most. This was my first time playing this course and was chosen as it is equal distance between the guys in our foursome. There is no driving range to warm up and only a putting green with no pitching or chipping allowed. None of us scored well but we really couldn't blame it on the course which was more than gettable.
There was no bar or restaurant but a outdoor "Tiki Hut" bar and grill was adequate for a quick beer. They did have a beer cart traveling the course to offer refreshments.
Pace of play is an issue
They need to bring the rangers back. The course is great but the pace of play is atrocious. Rolling up to each tee box and the group in front of us has yet to hit one tee shot yet. Terrible
Pace of play
Course was nice however we had a 6+hr round. Several calls to the shop/starter were made but no action appeared to have been taken.
Due to the slow traffic and pace of play, other groups started cutting ahead. Again, did not appear to be a ranger or others in control of the situation.
Great MDW round
Course itself was nice and a great place to take my friend for her first time on an actual golf course. The personnel were older white men who saw two younger women and immediately assumed we were with men or we didn’t know what we were doing.
Afternoon Round
3pm Tee Time was only 10 minutes behind schedule due to an event that day. Seemed like the pace of play was ok on the front 9 but at the turn, it slowed down quite a bit. No sign of Marshall at all. Basically played speed golf the last 3 holes.
Course was in good shape. Tee boxes were good, greens were good. Some minor issues that needed attention, mainly because of players not repairing their divots.
Overall, I was happy with the course that day but the pace of play is always an issue later in the day. Barely finished the round.
