Flanders Valley Golf Club - Red/Gold Course
About
Flanders Valley Golf Course boasts two championship courses that sprawl across the rolling countryside of Morris County. The facility is considered one of the best public golf courses in New Jersey and has even been ranked as one of the top 75 public courses in the country. The Red-to-Gold Course has a hillier terrain than the other course, White-to-Blue, which has a more traditional design. It is the more challenging of the two courses with mature trees scattered throughout and uneven lies provided by the elevation changes, which also offer scenic views of the idyllic surroundings. The Red-to-Gold's seventh hole is the most difficult of all the 36 holes at Flanders. This tricky par 4 has trees flanking both sides and it is also subject to the prevailing winds.

Great course
Flanders is a wonderful course, just check to see about other events going on before your tee time. Only got nine holes in.3 hours for 9holes, just outrageous!!
decent track, what happened to hole #12?
Decent challenging track. The greens were a little off this round but they did mention they are aerating this week.
If you are familiar with this course, there is a total rework of if I recall hole 12. It's usually a par 3 around 218 yards.....now easily par 4, around 340! It's so new I don't think the GPS or the printed score cards show it as such. I got lost driving there. It really seemed difficult, I guess the hole will be up there on the highest handicap hole on the course.
Good course but super slow greens
I remember when this course was one of the best courses to play at a very reasonable price. It still has a great layout but was very disappointed at how slow the green was. Maybe it was due to the rain the day before. Footprints are imprinted on them cuz they are so soft, if you're more than 10ft away from the hole, you can't putt any harder. Most of our putts were short no matter how hard you hit. We were 4 some played 36 holes - all 4 9 holes. Even so, can't beat the price. Starter was so friendly.
Where's the sand?
Too bad group that runs this course doesn't care much. Bunkers have been bad for years, but now they are unplayable! No sand in any (I played Gold/Red) and most filled with rocks. Tee boxes also poor, fill of divots.
On the plus side fairways, rough and greens were good.
Our group finished the first 9 holes under 2 hours and 18 holes in 4 hrs but the ranger kept telling us to pick up our pace. We were right behind the group in front of us so it was somewhat annoying.
Horrible golf carts
Staff is friendly! Course is pretty.
Golf carts are garbage!!!! $24 for a cart is ridiculous.
Busy and a little worn down
I think all the rain that this course has received has really shown how the drainage system isn't quite up to the task. They were deep mud tire tracks throughout all the fairways end folks were going off, roughly every 6 to 8 minutes, so it was quite crowded. Perhaps I'll go back in the fall
