Flanders Valley Golf Club - Red/Gold Course
About
Flanders Valley Golf Course boasts two championship courses that sprawl across the rolling countryside of Morris County. The facility is considered one of the best public golf courses in New Jersey and has even been ranked as one of the top 75 public courses in the country. The Red-to-Gold Course has a hillier terrain than the other course, White-to-Blue, which has a more traditional design. It is the more challenging of the two courses with mature trees scattered throughout and uneven lies provided by the elevation changes, which also offer scenic views of the idyllic surroundings. The Red-to-Gold's seventh hole is the most difficult of all the 36 holes at Flanders. This tricky par 4 has trees flanking both sides and it is also subject to the prevailing winds.

Disappointed
Played there before and it wasn’t bad. This time I was not thrilled. Greens had tree debris on them making it tricky to putt. Group ahead of us was slow and we were held up all round. Didn’t see a ranger until the 17th hole and that was just to tell us to pick up and not play the 18 th hole as it was 8 pm and closing. So we never even finished a complete 18 holes and we could have played other places that were cheaper. We thought the round was 40 a person but when we got there it was another 21 per person for the carts. So add in the course play and condition of greens into the slow play and not being able to play all 18 holes was a disappointment. Golf cart girl was out there one time only as well
A good value for the municipal prices. I was surprised at the conditions for a municipal course. If it weren't so far from my house, I would play here more often.
Getting beat up
I am sure all of the play over the winter didn't help, but the fairways were overgrown and multiple greens had patch issues. Hoping it takes shape for early summer.
Decent course, good price, greens were fast
I only give a 5 to superior courses. This course is very nice. I only have 2 issues; if you are walking some of the tee boxes are far from the previous green. 2nd, there is no range to warm up.
Other thank that, as I said; nice course.
Great and Challenging
Playing this course has it all. It’s really 36 holes. You can play the outer course, which is Gold-Red or the inner course ( Blue-White). Arriving you are greeted to a bunch of starters who are super. If you play this course from the tips it is perfect for the better player. Hilly, flat and very tough pin locations make you feel like you are at a semi private golf club. Everyone should get out here at last once.
A top 10 inexpensive public course North NJ
The course conditions are 10x better than when I used to play here 10 years ago. Maintenance is good for the tight muni budget. Many ball marks on the greens but that’s either due to the HS event earlier that day or just NJ/NY people with low awareness or careless for others. A few bunkers were nice with fresh white sand. A few were old, shallow and in need of a few bags of sand. Overall pretty good with low-mid expectations. Would play again at 4 for $23 walking
March golf
Let’s start with the course was open. Nice day , a little chilly. You have to walk , no golf carts. Course in good shape, some wet spots. Walking made it a 5 hour round, at 72 can’t remember the last time a walked 18.
NO Carts allowed. Only RED tee box open.
Would have appreciated driving on the cart paths. Obviously no one would consider driving on the grass.
I would have brought a smaller bag if i had known.
Course was in good shape for March.
Red White not Blue White
The White 9 were a big improvement over the red 9. Website indicates that Blue white course is open but at this time only red white is open. I would not want to play the red 9 again. Boring flat straight fairways with out many trees. The white course was layer out much better. Conditions were pretty good though only red tee boxes were available. I would come back and play blue white. I was also told the golf course is hilly and challenging but I have no interest in playing the red ever again
