Mays Landing Golf Club
About
Former president of the PGA of America, Leo Fraser, designed the 18-hole public course at the Mays Landing Golf Club with both advanced and beginning golfers in mind. Touted as the "best birdie for the buck," the Mays Landing golf course provides a great value for all golfers. The course was meticulously designed over 175 acres of beautiful pineland with scenic tree-lined fairways.
Mays Landing Golf Club provides an experience similar to one at a private country club with its excellent service and amenities including a pro shop, restaurant, and PGA instructors on site. On hot days they even have cool towels for you and they always have roaming beverage carts. The course is 6,633 yards at the longest tees, playing to a par of 72.

What happened?
I used to play this course as a kid - what happened? The management stopped taking care of the course almost completely. Especially for the price, this course is not worth the money. Greens, fairways, bunkers, all in terrible condition.
I hate to say it but at a price point of $65 you should expect decent conditions. A more accurate price point for this course would be $20-25 at most.
If the course is under new ownership or will be under new ownership shortly, there's a lot of room for improvement here.
Course conditions unacceptable
Mays Landing has gone downhill the last two years and it is now simply unplayable. Greens were absolutely horrendous. Fairways have always been spotty at this course but greens and bunker conditions are now unacceptable. This is now $15 golf course. No way $40-70 now being charged can be justified.
Sad.
a south jersey treasure lost
This once great course has fallen on hard times. The bunkers were filled with weeds, the fairways were burnt up and has only 50% grass coverage. The greens were a mess the finge was unkept. All and all not a course we will play again. This was once a gem of a course, you couldn't get a tee-time. We counted only 5 other golfers on the course. We played 18 in 21/2 hours. The Bar was closed, no water on the course. what a shame
Sad….
The course should have been closed. Fairways were rock hard and weeds. Greens were a mess. Many of the bunkers had been all but grown over with grass. This course should be shut down until they get it back into playable shape. The restaurant/ bar was closed so you couldn’t even get any food. I realized quickly why the rate was $45 and frankly half of that is too much.
not like it was years ago
The fairways were mostly crabgrass and the greens were in terrible condition. Years ago they had some of the best greens in the area. Many of the sand traps consisted of stones and grass. I used to love playing this course and am heartbroken that it has become one of the worst courses in the area.
ok layout, needs work
The course layout was good. The course needs extensive work. There are bare spots in the fairways and much crabgrass, bare spots on some greens and the bunkers contain weeds and need to be rebuilt. If course conditions improve, I would return.
The greens saved total dissapointment.
The course was not anywhere close to the price that was paid for a round of golf. It was a Saturday so I understand the increase in price. I sent pictures as well as contacting Golf Now with my views on what was a far less then par experience. If you want to play golf and your choice is Mays Landing or the nearest driving range pick the driving range, buy 2 buckets of balls and a real nice dinner and you will be well more then satisfied. I am not a disgruntled person only expecting what is fair for the purchase you make. This experience was not near the value of my expectations.
First and last time playing
Had a streaming river across the green from sprinkler head, 80% of greens were choppy and fairways were awful
Wrong direction
The pandemic apparently has done Mays Landing in. the greens have a fungus
the rough is un-mowed
the fairways are full of weeds and the grass cover is very sparse
The bat and coffee shop was closed
the staff we encountered was very friendly and accommodating we saw two part-time workers the entire time we were there
there’s county courses that are less expensive that are in better condition than Mays Landing I would advise against playing here
Horrible Course Do Not Play.
greens were bumpy and kept very long and not maintained. Fairways were virtually dirt, and bunkers were rock hard muddy grass. Pace of play was horrible as well I was standing on every tee box for 5-10 minutes and staff let’s there members do really anything they want which ruins it for others. Horrible golf experience, would never go back.
Terrible conditions
I realize this place is not a high end country club. However, when you hit a perfect tee shot and still have trouble finding your ball in the tufts of grass growing in the middle of the fairway, that’s rough. Speaking of rough...when you hit the ball 2 feet off the green and can’t find it, that’s a problem. I play this course often and this is by far the worst it’s ever been.
