Unfair Greens
Had the opportunity to play this course and it was in great shape. From the tee boxes to the greens, the course is well taken care of. The layout is your traditional tree lined fairways with rolling hills. The course is very playable and forgiving until you get to the greens. Whether hitting a shot into the green or trying to putt towards the hole, you have almost no shot at keeping it on the green. The speed is unplayable and you will roll off on almost every shot. There was a hole where it came up short by 4-6 inches, and then decided to come back down going about 15 ft away. You shouldn’t be penalized for hitting what should have been a tap in and now your probably adding two more putts to the score card. The greens need to be slowed down to where putts will slow down a little bit and then it will become playable. Overall it’s still a great course but you will not score well.
Private club...
...looking for new members. Membership is very reasonable. If I lived in Hunterdon County would join in a heartbeat
Great views, great greens
Great greens, they are certain to challenge you. The back nine especially offers some awesome views of the countryside. Friendly members, doesn't get a ton of play, pace of play is no issue.
The club has a simple low-key vibe that is refreshing and enjoyable for a private club.
My only complaint would be that the fairways were extremely overwatered. Some of them squished under my feet. Some drives rolled a foot. If you like "fast and firm" this isn't your place.
It's all about the Greens
William and David Gordon design this course in 1964 and it is still a great challenge. Enjoyable to play with it's rolling terrain. It's all about the approach shots and where to put it on the greens. You do not want a down hill putt, so keep it below the hole. The greens are very fast! #15 was a bear, 215 yds up hill. This course is private, but if get the chance, take it.
