Harkers Hollow Golf Club
Nestled in the hills of Scotts Mountain, Harkers Hollow Golf Club was carved from a sloping hillside, giving it a challenging terrain with plenty of elevation changes. Opened in 1929, the golf course has a classic layout designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America. Although it is a seemingly mild 6,551 yards from the back tees, the course plays much longer and harder thanks to the undulating terrain. The layout does offer a few lengthy holes as well as some interesting par 3s. The greens are small and fast with breaks ranging from subtle to dramatic. There is hardly any water but the Lopatcong Creek does run the entire length of the golf course and requires the occasional carry. The par-3 fifth hole is the club's signature. It is particularly notable for its scenery, which is why it has served as the backdrop for many weddings.

I've always liked this layout and love that a fair number of people walk. I walked today. It's August - really hot. Not an ounce of water on the course to drink (no beverage cart either). I'm super supportive of this course and the efforts they're making to restore it to its past glory, but not having a single water cooler in the middle of the summer is ridiculous. Shame......... shame........ shame.
It is what it is
Can't really complain when you pay $25 for 18 and a cart but the reasons behind the price are obvious. The cart paths are worse than the roads leading in and out of Mosul. Some greens are in pretty horrific condition.
The cart girl and halfway house staff were very friendly. Food and beverage options were good.
played Saturday morning by myself!the place is getting better every year! great layout and condition was good greens were good sand traps very good! tee box need work and also the fairways but u can notice the effort! good deal!!!
Great Father's Day Round
Thought the course was in good shape with all the. rain we have been having. Nice wide open fairways . Need to get ride of some of the clover. I would definitely go back.
a great layout
new owners are doing a good job in spite of all rain
It’s a challenging course and it’s up keep keeps getting better.
Greens were not good. Sloppy drainage that could have been managed better. Multiple twosomes put behind us and then telling us to hurry up.
Majority of the staff extremely unaccommodating
Had a tee time today at 840. Was ten minutes late due to hitting traffic from a car accident. Once arrived, Jason told me to head on out on hole 2 with my buddies. Asked him once I finished the 18th hole I could wrap back to play hole one, he said we will see with negative attitude. It's truly sad to see the "golf pro" treat a member of the course like that. The course is still in terrible condition with the fairways patchy and greens just as bad. The sand traps are all hard as a rock (with some not even having sand in them) except a few. The pace of play is terrible due to the fact they book tee times in very short intervals of each other. They also have people walking at all times of the day slowing up every one. I can't imagine this course being nothing more than for beginners. The flooding on the front 9 is atrocious as well...especially by hole 8/9
Theres only a select few staff at the course that are actually nice. The higher up the employees are ranked, the worse they get. Never treat your members with disrespect. I truly wish I didn't pay a dime of my money.
Needs A lot of work!
I read several reviews about how this course is coming back. If this is coming back, I hate to see what it was like earlier. The course needs a lot of work. Tee boxes are horrible, not a decent patch of grass to hit from. Tons of clover all over the place. Greens weren't terrible, but many areas burned and cutting machine scalped. It doesn't cost anything to keep water in ball washers or have water coolers on the course. The biggest surprise was at least some sand in the traps, albeit 1/2 inch deep. Tons of work is needed.
Wet and slow
Overall for what I spent it wasn't a bad round, the pace of play was very frustrating and the course was very wet and muddy.
Private quality layout, good value, friendly staff
What an amazing round today. It rained non stop for the past two days, so I knew I had to go to HH because the drainage at this place is unreal. Many other courses in the area would be unplayable today, but I didn’t have to move a single ball because of puddles/moisture at HH. The staff is great. Thank you to John at the front desk for the friendly service.
Side note about the layout: the course is long and fair. None of the holes seem out of place or as if they shouldn’t be there. Used to be a private course before 07-08, can only imagine what it would look like with that kind of investment. As I mentioned above though, I had absolutely zero complaints on the condition of the course, especially compared to other similar price courses in the area.
First time playing here this year after its sale. They are trying to bring this course back to what or used to be. We had a short first delay but we were they only early tee time so that wasn't a problem. The greens were in very good shape for this time of the year and the amount of rain we've had. The fairways still need a lot of help but they will get there eventually. They were cut tight but still need time to grow in, hopefully next year.
A for Effort
Great improvement over the last few years. It is certainly trending in the right direction. Greens were good and there was sand in the bunkers. Fairways and tees still need some work (maybe because of the weather). So you play lift, clean and place. Played in 3 hrs and at $29 to ride, definitely worth the trip. The layout is terrific. An old school Robert White course with tees near the green. Really looking forward to all he upgrades.
Course condition has improved under new ownership.
