Rockleigh Golf Course - Red/White

Terrible conditions. 3 temp greens on the first 9. The greens that were open weren’t even covered in grass, many had large swaths of dirt where the grass should be. So bad that despite a beautiful day we walked off after 9 holes. Run down and out of date this place is a must avoid. Worst course I played all season by far.

The course is a okay. The fairways are bit dead from too much rain and greens are slow. The courses layout is good and interesting. Some par 4s play long from the back tee and the par 3s are 200 yard range from the back tee. If the conditions are better, I would be interested in coming back.

Overall it’s a very solid county course. Course was in good shape, pace of play at 6:50am was perfect, and the greens rolled true. I wish they would do something about the geese but it’s been that way for years. I like the front 9 (Red) much better, but the back (White) was in good shape too.

So to my surprise, only the front 9 of golf course was open (due to Thursdays maintainace).
GolfNow did not mention this whatsoever. The starter had a bit of a strong attitude, the practice green and driving range were BOTH closed.
In conclusion : the half course they made me place twice to justify the 18 holes I paid for, was in good condition. I expect golfnow will at the very least, offers me at least a half refund.

First time. Just need more water on the course. No water till hole 7. They do not supply cups or ice. Other wise nice course.

Greens were very smooth, and in great shape. running about a 9. Fairways also in great shape. rough approx 2" high, which was playable out of. One minor suggestion is that they have a 1st cut of rough. the fairways are narrow (which is good), but often a ball will just trickle into the rough, and pulling a bad lie off a good drive isn;t the greatest.

I have played this course infrequently through the years and had forgotten how much fun it is. There are some short 5's and long 4's, and a bunch of enjoyable holes. With all the rain this spring the course was in excellent shape. You should expect a 5-hour round however, as the clientele is fairly slow and the course fairly hard.

Booked the round as the Red and White 9 hole courses and was disappointed to see that only the White would be played twice to make my 18. The second time around was extremely slow and most likely would not have played there if I had know that it would be the White 2X.

Surprised by the condition as a county course. Overall i thought it was good value. Pace was not as bad as I expected and friendly staff.

Roughs are tough to get out and avoid treelines as view to pin is not going to be easy.

Green was surprisingly in good condition. Rangers were seen at various holes. Good to know pace was being kept.

You wouldn’t know it was county course if it wasn’t for crowdedness. . Great condition. Best of the Bergen county courses

Had a private executive feel to it. The 10 minutes between tee times is amazing. Never waited. Never felt rushed. Very walkable. It is short. My only complaint is the lack of a range. Wasn’t for that Id give It 5 stars.

Overall condition is much better than last year. Greens are much faster.. So if you're thinking of last year's Rockleigh, you need to adjust quickly or you'll suffer on the greens. Hope this course continues to improve.

The course was OK for a public course; nothing crazy. But it had some nice holes. The speed of play made this a must return. After a 1.5 hour frost delay, we got out only 1 hour after our scheduled tee time. Our 18 hole round took about 4 hours and 30 minutes. Really good for a weekend round.
