Swamp land
It had rained 2 days before we played. The course was still cart path only. They didn’t notify us that either. Didn’t know until after we started and the cart gps said it. 70 percent of the holes had swamp land that you would sink into if you stepped into it. There were water pumps on the course pumping water off of it. $68 to walk then $18 for the cart. Outrageous with the conditions to charge that much.
Nice course. Not overly long and the fairways are generous. What makes it challenging are the greens. Unless you can put your approach shot within 15 feet of the hole, you’ll be faced with tricky double or triple breaking putts.
Early November at Ashbrook
Made this golf now reservation two days prior only to arrive and find half of the course is closed because of aeration. Would’ve been nice if Ashbrook and Golfnow would have communicated with each other to inform customers of this. Would’ve chosen another place to play. Greens were beautiful,as were the tee boxes, but some of the fairways had serious drainage problems and were pretty bare in many spots.
Pricey
A little bit pricey for the money course not in great condition for that money especially the tee boxes are even. Always looking for a flat space to hit.
why no 19th hole ??
This is a beautiful, though challenging due to length, course..
I was really ready for a nice cold cocktail after 18 holes and to my surprise, the tavern was closed !
As someone else mentioned, this tavern seems to be used for a lot of private events.
This was the case i encountered. It was used during the day and closed afterwards.
The place was already set up for another private event that was scheduled for the next day.
Very disappointing.
You could see the beautiful clubhouse in the distance when you are on 18,,,,,and then realize it's just a mirage ! LOL
Course is alway fun but the tavern is poorly managed
Why does a golf course tavern course the kitchen on a Friday night at 8pm in June!!!! Its a joke. Profit and revenue is not a concern as its run by the county. Such a shame..
A good public course by NJ standards
Been playing this course for years. Ever since they took over, Kemper Sports have been making improvements every year (cutting down lots of trees, improving drainage, new clubhouse, etc). Yes, pace of play can be bad, and yes, leagues can eat up weekend AM tee times, but it’s not as bad as some reviews would make it. Greens are large and in good shape. Clubhouse is new and is well-equipped. It’s the less popular sister to Galloping Hill. Not tricked out and the layout of Ashbrook is going to favor the average golfer than Galloping Hill. Be wary it rains—the course can get swampy and it will close even with what would appear to be an average downpour.
Do the owners not read the reviews
This course is absolute dog trash the fact the owners still charge 70 bucks to play at 4pm or even 70 bucks anytime is outrageous whoever makes the prices should be arrested for robbery the layout is trash the fairways patchy and the greens are trash the owners need to wake up
