Galloping Hill is an apt name. Tees and greens are mostly elevated over this rolling terrain. Seems like your always hitting uphill to these greens, requiring extra club
Great course
Great course to play. See many frequent and familiar players Everytime I come.
Course needs work
Tee boxes and greens were under maintenance. Flooding everywhere. Can’t play this course when it’s cold or when it rained within 48 hours.
Really bad all around
Horrible golf course. Slow, conditions were bad and bad all around
Swamp
I wish they could do something about the drainage issues. The course was un walkable in several spots.
Pace of play was poor
Everything at GH is top notch. But on this day the pace of play was awful.
Our 12.50 tee time was pushed back to almost 1.15.
Carts needed to be back at .5,30.
We finished on 17 at 5,32 and rode in.
Had we finished it would have been a 4.30 round,
Great County Course
Beautiful layout and good condition. Will definitely play again.
Ok
Course very wet due to heavy rain during the week. Piece of play terrible. No rangers anywhere. Our foursome waited on every shot on the back 9. 2:45 for 9 holes of golf is ridiculous. Gotta do better.
If you dont have a county card good luck with tee times on the weekend. A solid overall place time and time again.
Course was in horrible shape
This used to be my favorite course in the state. I grew up playing here. I played here 2 years ago and what a difference 2 years makes. Still has major drainage issues on the back 9. The greens were long, slow and ball marks haven’t been fixed in what looked like all year. Tee boxes were in good shape. Bunkers were basically cement. For $75 I would go elsewhere honestly.
Unfortunate day
Played after a bit of rain, back 9 was closed so they added the practice facility to my booking in exchange to make my round 18. No discount offered, so unfortunate I didn’t get to play the whole course. Some greens weren’t playing well, but good conditions generally. Pace was slow only because we had an older ground in front and it was cart path only.
Management stinks
Course is great, layout is top notch but due to rain night before they closed the back 9. They had players play the learning center and still charged full rate. That’s a joke to me and very poor customer service. They don’t care cause they print money, such is life.
nice course - very, very disappointing experience
I booked this course looking for a good test of golf, 6850 yards, 138 slope. Haven't played this in 34 years so I booked it instead of Neshanic or Heron. What I got was maybe 6200 (that is being generous) yards AND sanded green which no one of course mentions until you see for yourself on the first green. I should say on the first TAN, nothing green about them today.
Then on the 2nd tee box I realize the back tees are not set up and it looked like they never are (WHICH IS INEXCUSABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). The tees were way up. sometimes two or more boxes forward, I didn't pay $84 dollars to flip wedges into sanded TANS (greens). And there is nothing quite like putting on wet sanded greens all morning, did I mention I paid $84?
I rated the value today as poor but that is as low as I could go, a few words come to mind but I will refrain. I get this needs to be done but can someone say something before hand? GIVE ME AN OPTION TO PLAY? It's a shame because under all the sand the greens looked great and it's a pretty cool layout. Tee boxes and fairways were nice and the rough was lush. Drainage is an issue on the lower holes.
The pace of play was great, the carts are awesome and I played with three very nice gentlemen who are regulars. They were outraged that they changed me what they did. All in all it should have been a great day, even birdied the first hole, and it was dreadful. I should have turned around on the 2nd tee box and got my money back.
