Lovely mountain course
Pendaries is a great mountain course. The greens are difficult and in great shape. There are a few places in the fairways that are dry and grass is sparse.
back after two years
Played this course two years ago and fairways and greens were in great shape. The fairways looked a little beat up this year and some of the greens had some die off places. Still enjoyed the play and well worth the trip and fee. Staff was very nice.
Fun mountain golf
Pendaries is always a fun day trip from Angel Fire to play mountain golf. This year the lack of rain has been hard on the fairways and the grass is sparse. With more rain in July those conditions should improve. Greens except for one of them were in good shape. Friendly staff and local people. Beautiful drive over and back.
Food expensive
Charging for lettuce tomatoes and pickles on a burger was outrageous. Staff was friendly but overpriced food.
Desperate Situation
Course is a good layout for a mountain course. However, due to the drought and apparently no irrigation system, the course is in terrible condition — essentially dead fairways, and 16 of 18 greens are a disaster. Despite that they maintain a green fee in the $60 range.I paid half that on a GolfNow Hot Deal, and it was barely worth that. I probably won’t be back till they either get rain or do something about irrigating the place
Pendaries
Good course, fun layout, but drought conditions mitigate some of the fun. Would love to play again after a couple of weeks of rain.
Fun course
This course is a great layout and fun to play. Fairways are really thin but should improve in weeks ahead. Greens have not recovered from winter and are pretty spotty with the exception of a couple of greens. However, the greens and fairways were well mown. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed a burger and beer on the deck following our round.
Better value!
Everything was great, except on May and June the fee per person is a flat $20!!!
Greens are unplayable
Greens are unplayable. Greens are an inch thick with sand and deep cuts . Not worth the money yet, greens should improve in a month.
Mountain Hands
I have played the course many time and I enjoy it every time i play.
Very disappointing
We drove 120 miles each way to play a soggy course with tiny, hard to hold, beat up greens. The only reason I gave it as good a rating as I did is that is was cheap to play - if you shop for a bargain. To me, it's a poorly designed golf course in the "middle of nowhere". If you play there and have low expectations then you will not be disappointed.
Superbly Great!
I actually think that everyone should play this course at least once, even if you are a novice it is simply a great course. I had to take a couple of pauses to intake the most fantastic views of the areas, and also just for relaxation.
Good lay out
A few of the greens need work and the grass in the fairways could be cut shorter other than that it is a fun place to play. Try it I think you will like this golf course.
Hidden Gem
This course is a hidden gem. The lay out is challenging with lots of fun holes. Best time to play this course is durning the week. Weekends tend to get busy.
Pendaries Golf
We began our round shortly after 2pm late July and the temperature was about 80 degrees. Three or four of the greens on the front nine had some weeds growing in them and a couple of greens had small bare spots but then the rest of the greens were in good shape. The fairways and rough were the type of grass that you see on most mountain courses. The grass in the fairways was a little long but did not seem to reduce the amount of ball roll. Due to a lack of rain some brown spots in the fairways. The rough was a little tall but no problem finding a ball. For the most part the course is a little tight and with several short dogleg par fours and you needed to select your clubs wisely. The staff in the pro shop and restaurant are very friendly. There was not a beverage cart but you can get a large cooler from the restaurant. They have a tendency to over cook the food in the restaurant. I would rank the course a 7 out of 10 and would play it again if I was in the area but would not drive to the area just to play the course. Some good mountain views and deer on the course.
Great mountain course
Challenging mountain course with lots of dog leg holes. Beautiful scenery. Course in good shape. Staff is always so nice.
