Having played the course several times over the past 16 years, i believe the course was in the best shape I've seen and that's saying something about one of the premier public courses in Central NY. The new bunkers are well positioned and make the course even better and more challenging than before. Definitely a course to play if you're in the area
Nope.
Saw all the previous reviews. I was disappointed.
First the good points: decent layout, fast greens, sand in the bunkers were the best I have seen in CNY, nice clubhouse, back 9 has some very nice holes (picturesque, fair to play).
Bad points: front 9 was abysmal. Trenches or a pond everywhere, I can deal with ponds as they are usually visible, but the trenches often were hidden. #2 is a ridiculous hole. 125 yds uphill Par 3. Hit my iron well, landed it right where I thought it would be good, in front of the green. But then it rolled all the way to the back of the green. When the green is that high, there is little vertical drop for the ball to "fall", instead it has too much horizontal velocity and runs. The porta-potties were FULL at #12 (?), and I mean FULL!
I didn't mind the work going on. Shows they were keeping the course up, or even upgrading.
A GREAT way to upgrade would be to put CULVERTS in to replace the many trenches, cover them with soil and grass. A slight mound to carry is very different than a trench you cannot see from the tee box.
Drove over an hour to play there as I heard it was a great course. Doubt I will return.

First-rate golf experience, this entire facility seems well managed. I would always return to play here whenever I’m in the area.
Well Maintained Course and Only Getting Better
Seven Oaks has recently gone under some major renovations, and I cant wait to return to play the course after those updates have settled in. Some of the greens were just opening back up, and were not perfect, thus the 4-star condition rating.
Clubhouse was also recently updated, the Pro Shop and Restaurant were fantastic.
Well Maintained Course and Only Getting Better
This course is fantastic and only getting better. Seven Oaks has been undergoing renovations, and I cannot wait to see the finished product. Two of the greens are still showing signs of those renovations. The day we played was the first day that the green on hole #1 was open, and it was a bit bumpy. The guys in the pro shop were great, and talked us through all of it. On top of all the course renovations, they also added a brand new putting green and clubhouse. The clubhouse had a fully stocked pro shop, and a wonderful restaurant.
This course is fun and challenging
Seven oaks is a great golf course, beautiful fairways big greens and a great layout. Challenging for every level and a real bargain in the fall especially.
Review on seven oaks
Golf pro needs to work on his hospitality, was not pleased with how he was acting towards us. It was a very slow day, got stuck behind a two foursomes who were very slow. But other than all of that it was overall a fun course.
One of RTJ’s Finest
This course is one of the finest courses upstate NY delivers, and it’s public. Not the first time I’ve played, but when I played, there were SEVERAL renovations going on, all of which bring the course back to the way it was intended to play when it was built due to some overgrowth and technology changes… all of those changes will drastically improve an already tremendous golf course.
What blows me away, is the week day value of playing a course like this, for less than $50, you can walk the course (which this is one of the finest walking courses there is) Monday-Thursday. Weekends get a little steep but the course is still packed and pace of play suffers a little, but you’ll never regret making the trip to see this RTJ gem.
Golf Round
There was constriction on two of the holes during the peak golf hours that left us disappointed. They never said a word about the construction when we checked in the pro shop before the round.
We wish your experience could have been better, but appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We will share this with the rest of the team. The planned renovation, which is scheduled to be done by the end of next spring, will undoubtedly improve the golf course. We hope that you will come back and see us once it's finished.

Tough course. Longer than avg par 4’s. Reason for low rating on course conditions is due to weather. Light, steady drizzle started on 3rd hole.
Also, driving range advertised, but you have to get back in your car to drive there.
I’d like to visit again on a dry day. Great manicure of course. Greens were consistent.
Course was in good condition. The layout features a lot of holes with water hazards in the landing areas. The big thing was the rough. Not long but very thick making just finding the ball iffy.
cnolette06, thank you for the constructive criticism, and sorry we couldn’t make it a 5 star experience. Your comments will be passed along to the management team and we hope to see you again to provide a much more pleasant experience.
