Great Strides
Played about 3 years ago and course was pretty bad. My fears of playing another grueling day were dashed on the first hole. The staff and owners have done a tremendous amount of work!!
Layout of front 9 is duck and cover for a bit. Brush up on your club selection, you will use a lot of your bag.
Back 9 is beautiful and serene.
Greens fees a little high, but definitely did not mind as you can see it going towards an improved experience.
Will golf again!!
Very Interesting Old Course
Loved Green Ridge. It is all about history and had fun looking at the old clubs for sale in the pro shop along with all the photos and memorabilia from times past. Course layout was the attraction. The holes are very interesting and playable especially if you have a member along like we did. Greens were slow but had to be because of the crazy slopes. Was a lot of fun trying to figure them out. Give Green Ridge a try, I am sure you will want a return trip.
Very Old Course- But Not Bad
Golfed on Father's Day with dad and older brother. First time golfing here for me. The clubhouse was so old, but interesting. They had Mickey Mantle's golf bag and clubs there and Joe Dimaggio's old wooden woods. They used to golf there. That was cool to see. The course was very old. Very small greens. Also a very short course. It says 5,667 on the scorecard, but every hole was shorter than advertised. There was a longer dogleg on 10 that was a nice hole. You need a well-hit driver about 200-240 down the left center of FW and a mid iron into an elevated green. A few par 3's said 180 on the card, but were no longer than 165. The 6th hole said 265 on the scorecard (par 4), but was literally 170yds. I hit a 130yd 9 iron and a 40yd lob wedge. Just about every hole played 20-75yds shorter than advertised. Lots of irons off the tees, and you will get a ton of practice in with your wedges. I used my 52* from 105-110yds about 10 times. Luckily, I was on with it today. We had about 5 inches of rain a few days leading to the day I played, so the creek adjacent to the front 9 flooded. In turn, the front 9 was totally saturated. Extremely swampy-wet. That turned me off a bit, but I was happy to be golfing. This course is perfect for older and younger golfers, but isn't much of a challenge for big hitters or low handicappers. I found it very easy to score here. I wasn't blown away by any means with this course, but it was ok. 'High class' golfers wouldn't like it here. It's definitely not a Wild Turkey or Nicklaus course. Low budget course
The course is ok but the grounds were like cement and the ball would not hold the greens. I will not be playing here again.
Golfnow should drop this course from its course selection or send a rep over and explain to the people there what the "hot" deal is because even though I showed the person at the counter that everything is included in the rate she still tried to get me to pay $35 for a cart. After a good 10 minutes of going back and forth she finally said ok I can play but they will not be using Golfnow anymore and trust me it would be no great loss!
