classic layout, great greens, well bunkered
Just a great track. played 10/19/'13 and course was in great shape. the only negative was no sand in the bunkers but considering the time of year, that's understandable.
Nice old trees
Long (back tees) greens in good shape. Traps were wet tough to judge, seem to be consistent. Tee boxs could have been in better shape, a little rough and uneven.
A little dry on the fairways.
Just okay. Signage not the best. Fairways dry and weedy. Understandable though as it hasn't rained in a month.
Mediocre
Nothing special - glad we didnt pay full price to play. Both the fairways and the greens were a little shaggy and slow. Many of the holes are very similar and there were a couple times we actually wondered if we were on the wrong hole as it seemed we had already played it.
Great pace of play
I played a mid-day round here and was done in about 3 hours. Granted I played as a single, with a cart and the course was relatively empty but considering I played two balls on every hole and played at a leisurely pace from the tips I would consider this pretty quick. The course was in pretty good shape and other than a few bare lies and one bunker full of large rocks in the sand (hole # 1) I was very satisfied. The staff was friendly and the cart person (despite covering all 36 holes) checked on me twice on each 9. Couple that with a GREAT price and this is one of the best deals in the city.
Decent Track
Course was in good shape tee to green. The greens were in good shape but were in need of rolling - they were too soft. Overall it was a good value and would play again.
Long hard well maintained course.
Very nice and challenging course. There are a lot of tee options, so golfers of all distances can play this course.
Challenging layout
Generally wide but tree-lined fairways and well-bunkered, undulating greens. Well-maintained, attractive course.
Course is in good condition
Greens were very good, and everything else was in good condition. Very pleased with the course.
lots of doglegs, mostly left
Nice course, good condition. Greens were excellent. Challenging but not overly. Miss to the correct sides/areas you are alright and can recover. Pay attention to distances off the tee if you are a big hitter. Lots of dogs left but you don't have to draw the ball well to score decent. Short game can save you on this course.
Just sort of blah
The course was well maintained but I would not put it in the category of a premier course. One thing that grinds my gears is the tee boxes are not level. I know it probably doesn't matter much but it's one of those things for me. Staff was friendly and helpful and the driving range was great. Lots of blind shots if you drive it far I would recommend playing with someone who has been here before.
Challenging Course
This course if very challenging but fun to play. We got on right away and with a twosome and no one in front of us we played it in a little over three hours. A lot of the greens are surrounded with bunkers which adds to the challenge of this course.
The greens were in great shape.
We played after a great deal of rain and the course handled it well. Because of the rain our tee time was delayed but the staff handled the delay very well. The greens were in great shape. Only complaint was that we didn't see the beverage cart until the 17th hole
The best shape i have seen it in years
The fairway and rough was in great condition. The greens were the best i have ever seen. Get out and play the course.
Still a Twin Cities Top Notch Course
I had not played Majestic Oaks for a number of years. It is still one of the better layouts in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. Not to far from the downtowns and easy access off of Hwy. 65. Tees were a bit "bushy" and the greens were standard speed. Pace of play was excellent, and we were done in about 3 1/2 hours. Tee boxes set up for all levels going back as far as 7000 + yards. Tree lined fairways and a lot of trouble if you are straying off the tee. Fairways were consistent and the greens held well on approach shots. The staff was friendly and the "cart girl" checked up on us about every third-fourth hole. This was a good thing because it was an extremely hot and sultry morning. Highly recommended.
Bunkers galore
The course was in pretty good condition. Tons of bunkers & hardly any water. The landscape was pretty dry for all 18 holes. However, it's a 27 hole course & I only played 18, so maybe the other 9 is better. I played "Clunie" & "Castle."
Course is maintained and good value
Having played Majestic Folks occasionally over the past 30+ years, I have found it to be maintained and a moderate to interesting challenge.
Early a.m. value
The Signature course was challenging with deceptively thick and deep rough; a 10-15 mph wind didn't help. The greens ran true and were moderately fast. However, the bunkers do need some attention but I figure that has more to do with amount of rain recently. Good challenge at a great value for an early Friday round.
Terribly Slow
course was in great shape. Staff was friendly. However, there were no marshals on the course and the group in front of us had 3 women who thought this was some type of tea party/social event causing the round to take 5 and a half hours. This course needs more attention to pace of play!
