Decent Course - Disappointing End of the Round
Course was fine. Nothing spectacular. Cart picked up a stick that pulled a wire loose, rendering it undrivable. Instead of bringing us out a cart so that we could finish the last few holes, the ranger came and picked us up.....forcing one of us to hang off the back of his cart as we drove in to the clubhouse from one of the furthest out points on the course.....and ending our day early. Feel like that is a pretty lousy move.....and certainly doesn't make me feel like returning.
Good Shape however..
Course was in great shape, however it would've been nice if they would let their patrons know they tore up the tee boxes on Par 3 holes on the signature course and you're relegated to tee off in the rough or Ladies tees..
Ok course
Nice layout. Tee boxes pretty rough. Drink girl once on front 9 not at all on back. No food available on the turn. Ok experience.
Pleasant surprise
Checking in , staff n starter were all very friendly and pleasant . Course conditions were good and pace was fine eventhough it was very crowded on a beautiful Sunday with weather just perfect ! Visiting from out of state and we would play again here if given a chance
First and last time
We went to an 8am shotgun start. By hole 5 we were told we were playing too slowly. We agreed to pick up the pace. There were 5 ppl assigned to our hole and we were playing about 12 minutes per hole. Two of the players were very new to the game. The group behind us were with us so no complaints there. There was no group behind them . Later in the round we found out a tourney was starting at 12:30. We finished our round with 5 people (courses decision) in 4 hours and 10 minutes. Why would you schedule a 8am shotgun followed by a 12:30 tournament? We interacted with the ranger 5 different times and played almost a 4 hour round. Especially if you subtract the time spent talking to him. I will not step foot on that course again. I will not suggest this course to anyone ever. To expect a group of 4 to play in less than 4 hours is a bit unreasonable. To ask a group 5 (again, course decision) is nearly impossible.
OK at Best
Signature course has a good layout and you need to choose your shots and shot path wisely.
Marshalls were overbearing and later apologized to our group for incorrect info about pace of play (we never ran into another golfer or had anyone run on us).
Grass clippings on top of rough and a fair amount of weeds in the rough made us thankful for the fairways but detracted from the value.
We don't plan to play here again.
Good Shape
Course is in good shape, bunkers are open. Beer cart was frequent enough.
Long track
It’s a long challenging course. Ranger was annoying driving up on us while teeing 1st tee. And the let numerous 2-somes and singles behind our 4-some
Which was annoying considering it was a Friday afternoon and perfect weather round.
Good Course for a Draw
The Signature Course at Majestic Oaks Golf Club is a beast from the tips, 7,330 yards long with a 140 slope and 75.2 rating. The standard men’s tees are at a more reasonable 6,472 yards, 135 slope and 71.3 rating, and there are three other sets of tees to choose from so the course may be played by golfers of various skill levels. The course is set on a very interesting tract of land meandering between higher ground with stands of oaks and lower ground where the fairways are bordered by marshy penalty areas. There are no severe elevation changes, but the rolling terrain does allow for some elevated tees and a few holes where the approach to the green is definitely uphill. Since we played the course during the second week of December, a real bonus in Minnesota, this review will not deal with course conditions, which were obviously different than they would be in mid-summer. One of the things that struck us about the course was the tendency for the architect to favor left doglegs over right doglegs. A right handed golfer with good control of a draw off the tee will definitely have an advantage here. Another thing that stood out was the similarity of several of the holes. Holes 3 and 11, for example, are 398 and 399 yards long from the Gold tees, turn slightly left, and have fairway bunkers on the left side at about 250 yards from the tee. Holes 4 and 12 are par 3’s set at 183 and 176 yards from the Gold tees and both have well-bunkered elevated greens. Also interesting is that both pairs of holes run adjacent to each other. As noted earlier, the ability to draw the ball is a real advantage on this course, and this is especially true on holes 1 and 9. On both of these holes a long hitter who goes too far straight or slightly right may end up going through the fairway and not have a shot to the green. If you’re not comfortable drawing the driver, it might be better to take a fairway wood or hybrid off the tee. I had not played this course during the regular season, coming here only when it was one of the few open in December. However, I will definitely plan to include it in my schedule next year.
Great course.
It is a great course. It is difficult if you are not accurate off the ter
