Majestic Oaks Signature Course
I really enjoyed this course (again), even tho' it was rainy and cold outside. The greens were a little slower than I remembered, but they had just aerated them a couple of weeks prior to my tee time.
Ok course
I didn't feel it was anything special, but enjoyed the round all the same. If you're in the area, it's worth $20 to play it.
Majestic Oaks - Signature
I like the layout of the Signature course. It is well bunkered and has many tree lined fairways. We played the gold tees - just over 6300 yards. The greens are very good. The fairways and tees are in average condition.
A good experience overall
First and foremost, I would like to thank GolfNow for offering such a spectacular deal. $15 for walking 18 holes on the weekend was quite the bargain in comparison to the standard prices.
The course was in good condition but the greens could be much firmer. However, all in all, I had a great time except for the twosome in the cart behind us. Walking is my preferred choice when playing a golf course but even when keeping up to a good pace, the cart demographic and the attitude of "slow play" is a frequent vexation in my perspective viewpoint. Even the ranger thought we were at a good pace, but throughout the round we felt a persistent pressure behind us. The golfing experience is meant to be enjoyed and savored, not just passed by with no regard for the aesthetic quality and topography of the golf course and with the conviction for playing at a near level of competence.
Good shape
Course was in excellent condition and the pace was great. 18 holes w cart complete in 3.5 hours.
Rude Ranger and Poor Tee Time management
We were a double that had two singles placed right behind us. The desk management could have told us about that, so we could have let them go ahead of us. Instead of feeling rushed, we also had the ranger interrupted a swing when my partner was on the tee box. He also reminded us two and half hours to have the carts off the course. We were already on the 12th hole.
I normally love Majestic... last visit was rough. Tina the on course Drinks lady was very friendly and so was the bar staff.
Kicked off course for tournament
If you have a tournament with a shotgun start at 1:00, maybe don't send out a groups at as late as 9:00. We didn't get to finish our round since we couldn't finish 18 in under 4 hours. I talked to the clubhouse after and their response was essentially "sorry about that".
Pushy ranger
Nice course, but ranger was pushing us off course earlier than we we told at pro shop. We could have played 2 more holes and still been done by time office told us to have cart back. I am not happy
Bring your good game
The Signature Course is beautiful and in great shape. But you need to stay in the fairway or your score will climb quickly...no easy recoveries out of the thick rough or trees. Deep bunkers with wet sand seem to be everywhere. We added nearly 10 strokes to our game. Crossroads Course may be a better choice for us next time at Majestic Oaks.
Great Course
You'll have a fun time playing this track. I thought it was a pretty scenic course and well maintained. It's pretty tough course from the blue tees, over 7000 yds.
Doglegs and Bunkers
I wish I could be more enthusiastic about this golf course because the greens were excellent. My reservations are that it is mostly doglegs, 12 by my count, and most of the greens are significantly front-bunkered with medium deep traps. It tends to be the same thing over and over, and I prefer more variety in the holes. Many of the doglegs are tee-lined and if you don't make it to the corner or are on the wrong side of the fairway, you often have little or no shot into the green. Much of the course winds its way through lowlands/wetlands, and the turf tends to be a little thick and maybe a little soft and sticky. It plays long, so choose one set of tees shorter than you think appropriate.
Average to good course
Pace of play was awful. Took about 5 hours and 15 minutes to play. Waiting on every hole. Would be higher rated if better pace of play and 5-10 bucks cheaper.
Slow Play
They don't tell you when you book your tee time that you are squeezed in between a tournament. Locals playing and don't care if they are holding up others players.
good course but bad management
This course condition was pretty good and somewhat challenged. liked course layout until 12th hole. booked tee time at 4 :30 and tee off at 5:45 due to overbooked.
Played until 12th hole, we were asked to return golf cart before sunset. We could play at least 4or 5 holes more.
This experience makes me would not recoment this course at all.
Lots of sand
Great conditions, all greens are protected by bunkers. Would have been nice if we had seen ranger who might have suggested to the foursome in front of our twosome to let us play through instead of us having to wait on almost every shot on the back nine. The good news was we still played in four hours.
SLOW PLAY
Great course. No one likes playing a 5+ hour round. Defiantly overbook the course from time to time.
course was great for November 30th
although the ground was frozen the course was very fun to play
good course
had a lot of fun. It was a challenging with out being overwhelming. love to try it again
