First time contending with "Foot Golf"
It is good to see younger people getting out at the golf course. However it was distracting. If you are like many of us old school golfers you do not like someone cackling or loud conversations when you in the middle of your swing or putt. They should adhere to common golf manners when sharing the course. I learned that I now must ask when booking future tee times if the course is shared with Foot Golf, if so I am not interested, nor are my golfing buddies.
Fun Interesting Course Great Views Friendly Staff
I took my wife who had not played before and thankfully it was a nice sunny day and great views of the St. Croix Valley. Several of the holes were quite challenging given that most of the course is built encompassing ski slopes. I would definitely go back. Depending on when you go expect to see families playing "soccer golf" alongside the fairways - looked like fun!
Excellent course for the money
I snagged a last minute deal for 18 w/cart for $24 and it was worth every penny. The course was fairly quiet and I was able to play 18 really quickly. The back 9 has been redone and they hand out caddy sheets to help out which proved to be very beneficial. Shot a 95 my first round out at this course. It has its challenges but it's a very enjoyable and extremely scenic golf course and Id highly recommend it.
Great value, greens in good shape
it was my first time there. We were walking and looking for my ball was a little tough being 65 on the first two holes and I was wondering if it was going to be like this the rest of the way . It didn't, it open up and I could work on my long game on a well maintain course.
Good condition, good view.
I'm happy with the course. Only it had front 9 open and back 9 closed which was unexpected. I had 41 my personal lowest in first 9, but could not finish 18 to know what score for my total would be.
back nine blues)
We had a great time on front nine altough the greens had recently been airatied. Made for bumpy putting. Got to the back nine I'm sorry there's only 1 word for it- Junk! Short, narrow the fun just stopped, my wife and I just wanted to get off the course. Was our first time playing course not making any plans to go back.
This course is usually not busy and has great scenery
We like this course because usually it is not too crowded and we love seeing all the animals. This round we played a hole with 9 turkeys and saw several deer on the back 9.
Back 9 have a great view.
I will play this course again and will recommend to other golfers.
quirky back nine
1st time playing this course so i didn't know what to expect playing a course that is a ski resort in the winter. Front 9 was nice but the back nine is a lot different. up and down the ski hills makes it pretty challenging.Use can use driver on the front 9 but you might want to keep it in the bag on the back.Short course but fun track. If you get a deal on Golf now it's worth it to work on your control game.
Shot golf and blind shots
Most par 4's require lay-ups off tee, many times being blind 0 either over crests or around dog legs.
On the bright-side, their score card acts like a mini-yardage book, so it makes playing for the 1st time manageable.
Back 9 has been fit into the ski slopes, so some strange hole lay outs. Also, several holes on this side are under construction.
Greens were in good shape, but very, VERY slow. This aided the beginner playing with me, but all of the uneven lies through the green were tough.
Afton
Beware that GolfNow provides you an incorrect addresss to get there, I was late for my tee time. Front 9 is your average course. The back 9 has some ridiculous holes you have never seen before. Very easy to lose sight of your ball.
Fun course but dry, hard ground
This was a fun 18 hole course with a nice view on many holes. Some of the holes seem oddly placed. The ground is hard so bring your old set of clubs. Beautiful views. Would be great to see fall colors.
Staff is very nice and polite.
Quick review
The course is gimmicky. On a ski resort so what do you expect I guess. It was in decent shape and you will use most clubs in your bag. Inside staff and beverage cart girl were very good. Outside staff has no golf etiquette. Drive carts and mowers in front of you when you're about to hit your ball.
this course is a ski resort.
the front nine is a lot of fun. the back nine is on the ski slopes and is in need of repair. it was fun for the price,
When Fall Comes!
For the price this course was alright. The greens are rough but the views are wonderful. Can't wait to play it in the fall! The colors will be brilliant! The course won't have as much construction! Then the year 2015 will be a new year to see how the upgrading changed its design! Will Play again!
picturesque
This course has a good variety of holes. The back nine is completely different from the front.
very scenic
Afton alps is a challenging but yet fun course for all levels. Also got paired up with a very nice couple from burnsville!
construction
If you can play for a cheap price, its o.k. greens are pretty rough
Rough Shape
I should have read the reviews before booking. The back nine is not much fun at all. I paid $30 for 18 with a cart (plus Golf Now fee of 2.90), and I don't think it was worth it. I'd never been here, so it was fun to try a new course, but the condition didn't make it worthwhile for me to want to come back.
Front nine is great, back nine leaves a lot to be desired
Afton Alps is a challenging course. The front 9 plays very nicely and is pretty well maintained. The back nine needs a lot of attention. I know the course is under construction for the ski area. The play should be on the front nine twice for 18. A couple of the holes didn't have any fairway, just dirt under construction between tee and green. I think the price should be adjusted while the course is in such disrepair. I was disappointed in the condition of holes 10-18. My husband won't go back.
