great features
great, good value, would play again
Great Course, Needs Starter and Ranger
The course is wonderful and a great Links style challenge. Greens a little slow, but in great shape and rolling true. If you don't know you have to putt a little harder by the tenth hole, it is not their fault. Only one drawback. Young man (starter?) walks toward you, takes your greens fee receipt, does not even say "hello," and keeps walking. You put your bags on the cart and you're thinking, "Should we just go to the tee?" He disappears, so we ride up the the first tee, and there is no supervision at all about who is up and who is playing with who. Two old guys, who do not know golf etiquette, ignore a twosome in front of us who are sitting in their cart; they don't invite the twosome along, just tee off and follow a foursome. Now we have a twosome on deck and our twosome. A single golfer in back of us gets upset and heads for the tenth tee. The twosome that is supposed to be playing with us, heads for the tenth tee as well. We have to figure this out? We can't, but I did introduce myself to six guys we thought we would be teeing off with. A foursome coming off the ninth can't figure it out either. One says, "Where did these guys come from?" The two guys who went out by themselves hit the ball <100 yards, yet for some reason want to wait for the players (250+ yards) ahead, to get off the green. It went on like that all day, all because there are no rangers and no active supervision from the starters. A beautiful course and a relaxing day gets ruined by one or two slackers who don't want to do their jobs, or do not know what their job description entails.

Lido Beach
There was a delay getting out of about 1 hour due to an outing that ran way over time. The course was very nice and challenging.

Nice Course
The Course was great!! The weather made the course difficult but we were able to get 9 holes in before we rained out.
Alexander3838285,
Thank you for the great 4-Star review! Come play again soon on a dry, summer day!

Lido Management
Good course, rude staff
Not the friendliest staff. Made me feel like they were doing me a favor allowing me to play. But it was a challenging course in good shape so early in the season. Fast greens.

Liked the course and layout just in very poor shape Lots of dirt patches and greens not good either Would hope over next 2 months conditions improve and course should be a lot of fun
Great Course
Love This Course,Played Today Very Little Wind,Usually Very Windy Makes This Course Tougher,Layout Is Terrific,I Will Play This Course Many More Times :)
Friday afternoon
I played on a spring Friday afternoon, which is probably why I was able to rate the pace of play so high. I've played it before and the rate of play has been anywhere from the 3 hour round that I just had to worse than bethpage.
The layout is fantastic. It allows for all skill types to play and has a lot of risk/reward choice.
Conditions could have been better and I trust that later in the season it will be. Greens were in decent condition but it varied. Fairways could have used some GUR markings. Tee boxes were generally good. Big draw back was the amount of geese droppings, I ended up bringing a tee with me to keep my putter off the grass when chipping.
Rainy Day
My son and I played this on rainy day however the carts were equipped with a rain cover. That was a real good amenity. The gentleman in the Pro shop(Michael )was very accommodating. Made the day tolerable. The course was in somewhat good shape. The greens were in very nice shape as well as the fairways considering the wetness of the day. My only complaint was that there are turds all over. Wear your old shoes........
Great Golf Course
Usually conditions/greens are better, but this was St. Patrick's Day, early in season. We have played this course frequently. One of those courses where you remember every hole because the layout is unique and challenging. Who wants to go over water twice on one whole? That would be the 16th. Once you do that, and par the hole, you will always come back!
The course is coming along nicely after the destruction by Sandy
The course has come a long way. The greens were in good shape and the fairways are getting better. Of course the wind was blowing and it was a bit chilly. i will be playing this course again this season
mole course
this golf course was in very bad shape. giant moles or rats roaming the course. no trees ,bushes or grass.difficult to figure out the layout. never recovered from hurricane sandy.
This course is never in good shape in the spring due to its exposure to the harsh seaside elements in the winter months. Expect better conditions by late spring.
Windy and Tough
For an early season round the course was in decent shape but was a bit colder than I expected. For anyone who wants to play here remember that it's usually 10 degrees cooler down by the water. This course is no push over and the wind plays a big factor too. If you're looking to play a tougher course by the water then try lido beach. I tried middle bay once and it was a lot narrower and the staff was really snotty, so go to lido if you're torn between the 2 options... They're much friendlier at Lido.
NICE LOCAL CHALLENGE
i consider this to be my home course living in the area. great course for the rate. course can be a real challenge with the wind. 16-17 holes are tought, play the right club and you are good to go.
5 & 1/2 hour round
I live in Long Beach and play Lido frequently. Unfortunately I think the pace of play is causing me to look elsewhere. Just to slow. If anyone at Lido is reading this, please please please start implementing "ready golf" secondly, it wouldn't kill you to send a ranger out on the course one every two hours to keep things moving.
Playing golf is not a family picnic
The previous and my team skipped the 11th hole because of the players consisting 4 (couple, 2 kids) in 11th hole. It seemed that they didn't know how to play golf not mentioning the rules and etiquette. Even the couple let the kid drive the cart alone. So dangerous and terrible. We waited long time but our patience exhausted and asked the couple to allow us to pass the hole. We played only 17 holes that day.
Average at best
Course was in ok condition but the greens were in better condition which was most important. Rolled on the slower side. Pace of play was horrible playing in 5.5 hours with rangers nowhere to be seen. The course looks like it's seen better days. Many of the tee boxes are in play so be aware and keep an eye out for stray shots.
Great Layout, Horrible Conditions
I have played Lido many times over the years, but based on this Saturdays round I will never go back. Conditions included hundreds of biting sand flies, water on fairways, mud and geese stuff on fairways and overall poor conditions. Not worth any amount of money.
Ride with a duffer!
Signed up as a single but was paired up and had to ride with someone else per starter. What a disaster. Looking for his ball all day long. Not how I vision a good golf day!
Horrible
I'll preface this by saying I used to live in Long Beach about a dozen years ago, and Lido Golf Club was my home course for several years. I played it weekly, and it was in good shape back then.
The key word is "was"
I played on a Sunday, and the conditions were absolutely horrific. The tees and fairways were not only beat up, but they looked like they hadn't been cut for a week.
Due to the lack of maintenace, slow pace of play,
and the rude punk in the pro shop who made it seem like I was bothering him when I wanted to pay,
I will NEVER play Lido again. It's a shame, because the layout, especially the back 9 deserves better.
holedigger99,
