For the price of $35 a round you can’t beat it. Greens are in great shape for the dry weather we have had. Only complaint is they tend to let people tee off #10 and that can screw up a round especially if it’s a foursome of people who can’t play. Overall I would defiantly recommend.
Great day for golf. But when isn’t it!
Gentleman in the Pro Shop needs some people skills, or a different job. Would’ve made a perfect ‘Grumpy ‘ in the 7 Dwarfs.
Anyway, course was in great shape. A little water on the course and bunkers, but didn’t come into play. Greens were faster than I expected.
Great course for the price. Will be playing again.
Out of Towner up here for a wedding. My brother and I teed off at 7 am. Course is a lot of fun - some wonderful golf holes with water. Course was in great condition !!
Could play this course all the time and never get tired of it.
30$ with a cart what a deal !
It could be great.
I played the Island Oaks course.
The gentleman working the counter wasn’t very welcoming or friendly. Maybe it’s because I was a Golfnow customer and not a regular or member. However, my group stayed for dinner after our round and the staff working the bar and restaurant were very friendly and professional. Service was great as was the food.
The course itself was in great shape with exceptions. The tees, fairways and rough were well maintained. The greens were in excellent condition. However, the majority of the bunkers were in very poor condition. In addition, the cart paths are in dire need of repair and the carts themselves need to be upgraded. This could very well be a 5 star facility if those things were addressed.
Not to friendly
Pro shop employee acted like I was bothering him when I went in. I have never played this course and didn’t realize that there are 2 courses. He never mentioned to me which one I was playing. I had to go back in to ask him. No directions at all from staff. Made the turn and wanted bottle of water. Go to the bar to purchase and waited a bit and no one there to greet me or to purchase from. I then had to ask a lady that was working outside if someone could give me change to buy from vending machines.
Great course for the value. Rough was thick cut and hard to fine balls but it was still a great day
I've played Lima plenty over the years. The state of disrepair was very dissapointing. Sure, a few wet spots are par for any course thus spring, but why aren't the dry fairways mowed? Often didn't know if I was in the fairway or the rough, called it fluff. The greens were dry, bouncy, unreceptive, shaggy and needed to be swept/cleared if spring debris. Cart paths a me day my cart need work too.
On the plus side no one was around except a 6 some ahead of us on a beautiful Friday afternoon, easy to bounce around.
Do not bother
Miserble old man at the desk was just rude from start to finish. No reason to treat customers poorly. Was not allowed to tee off at the advertised time. Was forced to wait for another golfer to join me. He refused to let me out alone and told me to call golfnow if I had a problem because it was not his. The greens were ok but incredibly inconsistent from hole to hole. The fairways where not much shorter than the rough. Tons of clover and other weeds. Cart paths were atrocious. The carts were some of the worst I have seen recently. I imagine these courses were awesome one day, but that was apparently long ago. Livingston CC is far and away a better course for numerous reasons and a fair amount less money too. Caledonia as well. Wildwood and Mill Creek for sure.
Best feature of the course is their greens. Very smooth and the ball rolled true almost every putt. It’s a good course with enough challenge to test all level of golfer.
Played Charleston Pines. Course was in nice shape. Greens and fairways were well maintained. Same for the bunkers. Layout could be more interesting as the couse has a few too many dead straight par fours. Overall though-nice. We played the day before Labor Day- the couse was a ghost town-almost no on on the course so pace of play was excellent. For $25 on Golfnow it’s a good deal.
Its not Rough.
I have been playing this layout for a long time. Spacious fairways, a moderately challenging layout, and superb greens always makes Charleston a Fun play.
The absence of any real rough makes finding and playing errant shots very easy. Which picks up pace of play, I understand. But an Honest rough with tighter fairways this course could be a Bear.
Either way, a short drive from Rochester, this is still a Gem. Look for discounted times, Retail is a bit stiff.
You can also play Island Oaks at the same facility. A tighter course with more terrain. You may spend a few buck more, but a great place for 36.
Course is great. Sand is better than average. Layout and course in beautiful and worth the drive out!
