Augusta North

This is a great golfing property. The challenge is waiting at each hole. The greens were at 11,5 and never flat.

Exceptional

Exceptional.

Can’t believe that this club flies so far under the radar. This is one of the top courses in the New York metro area and most golfers have never heard of it. Very small membership (am told just 150 members) means sometimes there is only a single group on the course at a time.

Conditioning is top notch. Greens in particular are worth mentioning- some of the truest I have ever seen (not exaggerating). Overall conditioning close to perfect and better than many top 100 clubs I have played.

Course is notable as being the last design of Robert Trent Jones. It is difficult (140+ slope) and includes a number of forced carries and frequent waste/environmental areas. Despite elevation changes and scenic vistas the course plays very well. Large and undulating green complexes require accuracy and thoughtful positioning. Not a single throwaway hope on the course.

A must play if you are invited.

I can't wait to play here again.

I played Anglebrook today in an outing. It was my first time at this beautiful course. Trent Sr.’s last design, and Golf Digest’s 16th best in New York State. I don’t know why this course isn’t listed as one of the Top 100 in America. Play it once, go home and look at your scorecard and you can picture every hole out there. I picked up a membership packet and one flier quotes numerous top area club pros, some of the best amateurs in the area and even a PGA Tour Player as saying it’s one of the most finely conditioned golf courses they have ever seen. One says it’s as pristine as Augusta National, and I wouldn’t argue.

Wait til conditions improve

Great layout but condition of course was not up to par. Tee boxes on par threes are shabby particularly for this time of the year. Greens are fair at best they still have a lot of damage left over from the winter. Bunkers are under repair on some holes. If your thinking of playing here wait til latter in the year.

This is THE course to play

Simply a fabulous design with the most impeccable bentgrass greens, fairways and bunkers I’ve ever seen. Trent Jones Sr.’s team did an amazing job carving this course out of the landscape. The slope and rating aren’t indicative of the challenge the golf course presents. Not a poorly designed hole here, and you’re forced to work your ball every which way, and use every club in the bag. I could play here every single day for the rest of my life, and not think twice about another golf course.

Poor course conditions

I always look forward to playing this course. The layout is great and challenging. This time however the course was in such poor condition that we were forced to play winter rules. The fairways were plugged and burnt out, bunkers were under construction and the tee boxes were just a terrible. This is a club in need of a new greens keeper. Who loses a course in August when the weather has been perfect. What a disappointment.

Northern westchesters best

While this course is extremely private, if you have the chance to play here put aside everything else and take it. This is the last course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. And has all the characteristics of his other great designs. There are large fairways and greens which put a premium on your approach shots. The golf and dinning staff could not be better. The course itself was not in good condition at this time, the greens were in poor condition. Clearly the greens staff had made some very poor decisions with regard to the maintenance of the greens and getting them in shape for the new season, but even with that the course is a real Jem and should be on everyone's list of places to play in Westchester county.
