Great course if you like a challenge!

I have been a member of the club for about 15 years, and this club is great! It is a very difficult course with fast greens. Everyone on the staff is wonderful and they come every day with your best interest in mind. The atmosphere is great and you can finish a round in a reasonable time... Also the price of a membership is great.

The club is privately owned and accepts 230 full time members a year. The club also has a beach club that is perfect in the summer. They host events including lobster bakes and other outings for the members. They are also a great location for a wedding with both the course and the beach as the selling feature there.

As for the past comments below. The club has had its struggles, but which clubs in the tri-state area havent! Both 2016 and 2017 were bad years all around for golfing as clubs in the area saw declines in memberships. Since then the club has made quite a few managment changes and improvements. They have been working rigorously to clean up a lot of the course features left in poor shape by previous managment. There is still a little bit of an issue with divets, but the club has been making every effort to fix them swiftly and inform all members of maintenance changes.

If you are looking for course that is very family friendly and has a fair priced membership then Mahopac Golf Club is the place to golf. Especially if you live in the Putnam County area.

Close already

This place is so run down and poorly managed that to even call it a private club is laughable. What a shame that this club has sunk so low. Close the doors on this embarrassment already

Trying to improve

Poor management has left this course in dire straights. They have now brought in a management company to try to bring it back from the brink. They seem to be headed in the right direction. Course was in good shape. They are offering some really low priced deals that make this worth trying.

a real shame

I've played in a yearly event at this course for a number of years. Over the course of the last ten years I've seen the steady and continuous decline of this facility. Its an absolute shame that after surviving for over 100 years this club seems ready to close. Barring some drastic change in management just save your time and play another course.

Northern Westchester Gem

Couldn't disagree more with eagle 64. While this club is private , and has suffered the devastating effects of the Great Recession regarding membership. It is making a strong comeback under the strong leadership and present management . The course is a real gem with excellent conditions.

While the clubhouse is not opulent or fancy, it gives you a real sense of comfort with it's grill room , cozy bar area, and terrace overlooking the golf course. The staff is super friendly and very attentive. The menu is varied, and the food is excellent. If you know a member, or have been invited to an outing at this club , don't miss the opportunity to play this track !

Stay away

This course is over one hundred years old and should be on everyone list of places to play if you appreciate golf history. The course is certainly different from any of the newer designs you might play in the area. The course was in decent condition but the rest of the facility lacked any sense of proper maintenance. Poor management has clearly left this club in bad shape. If your planning to play Mahopac do it quick because from the looks of things it won't be around much longer. Certainly not as a private club.
