Putnam County Golf Course
About
Nestled in the Lower Hudson Valley, Putnam County Golf Course enjoys a scenic location amid rolling hills yet it’s not too far from the city. Formerly known as Putnam National, the club was originally opened as a private club in 1959, it opened to the public when it was bought by the county in 2004 but it continues to offer the quality and amenities of a private country club. The golf course has front and back nines that are completely different from one another so be prepared to use all the clubs in your bag. Water hazards only come into play on two holes but don’t let that fool you, this course is formidable even for avid golfers. Putnam County Golf Course's final four holes are an especially challenging stretch that will test you with everything from uphill lies to a slew of strategically placed bunkers.

Awesome course but be careful with primetime weekend, it gets very slow
Read the title, the course was great and appears to be run very well. Only struggle was pace of play since I played on Saturday at a primetime and it was jam-packed
Keep looking - poorly run
Not a horrible price. Pace of play was slow.. They jam people in. Watch out for stray balls. 1 in 10 chance your gonna get hit. The Cart died on us far away from the clubhouse.. called every extension to get help and no one answered. straight to voicemail. Had to walk the rest of the course. Even Left a message with the general manager trying to get help…, you would think they would have at least called me back later and apologized. Skip this one.
Narrow course
Course was in great shape, greens played well. Course is fun to play.
5 1/2 hr round
Way to long to play a round of golf needed to get some rangers out there to keep things moving, snack shack was closed on a beautiful day on a holiday weekend could have made a million dollars selling hot dogs and beer. Almost seems like a group or two was inserted into tee sheet not good for a busy weekend. Overall course was in great shape. I would play again just not on a Saturday or a holiday weekend.
Terrific shape in mid-November
My buddy and I tried this course on a pretty chilly day in November. The conditions were excellent (especially for this time of year). The course wasn’t busy so we had a 3:15 round. Staff was great.
I will be back next summer to see it in golf season shape.
Autumn Leaves
As slow around as I've played. It's fall golf so you expect leaves but in the fairway? No sign of anybody blowing them which made finding your ball a challenge. No ranger and a surly starter warning us to return cart by 6!! Friendly person at the desk. Nice greens.
This course is nice
I should have my own golf cart if I’m a single player because if I’m riding with somebody and he doesn’t want to finish the whole 18 holes I have to take him to the parking lot and come back then I will miss a hole or two holes.
