Oak Tree/Spruce at Middle Island Country Club
About
Middle Island Country Club offers 27 holes of championship golf. It is one of Long Island's most popular public golf courses. It sits almost right at the center of the island, surrounded by the Lustengarten Nursery. The holes are divided into three nines and played as different 18-hole combinations. The Oak/Spruce Course begins with the shortest of the three nines, but there are some tricky doglegs that can make it play longer than what it says on the scorecard. Middle Island's Spruce nine was renovated in 2008, which added an island green on the par-4 seventh and more tee boxes to allow for women, seniors, and championship play. It's the most player friendly of the three nines, with wide fairways and generous greens that give you the freedom to grip it and rip it.

Very challenging
Going Oak to Dogwood proved very challenging as both are very tight and hilly. As a result, it was not one of my better days.
Good but Could Have Been Better
Fairways were newly groomed but the pin placements were unreasonable and that combined with aeration made green play excessively difficult for amateurs. The traps are dirt not sand and no one else rakes.
Fun Day at Middle Island Country Club
Really nice golf course. Fairways and putting greens were in superb shape. Starters were very nice and accommodating . Definitely a great venue to challange your golf skills!
Good Golf, Nice Course
Not my first round here, but certainly the most enjoyable. Last round was over 2 years ago. The greens were in excellent shape, the rough used to be horrible, now seems more shorter than I remember. Staff was very accommodating, professional and friendly. Special thanks to the starter for his warm welcome and guidance regarding which courses to play.
Nice HIdden Gem
This course has a private club feel. I like that is has a cart girl with refreshments driving around the course. That shows consideration for the golfers. They need a Ranger too.
Private Club Feel
I always enjoy playing this challenging course because it feels like a private course due to the layout and the pace of play.
Surprisingly good layout.......
Fairway traps make the narrow fairways even tighter.
I thought it was a good challenge from the white tees.
Long par 4's.
Golf paradise
It was a spectacular and sunny day not that many people on course it was manicured well we definitely come again it’s also very challenging when you first hit out of the shoot
I enjoyed myself immensely
Awful starter and ranger who are clueless
We played in a twosome as the 1st group out on a Sunday morning, by the time we made the turn at #9, there was a 4 group back up on the 2nd hole because they put out groups on all 3 nine hole courses regardless of tee time or who is playing 18 or 9.
Above Average price for below average everything
This review is not as much a reflection or the quality of the facilities, course conditions/layout or staff. But more a reflection of how significantly overpriced greens fees are for an experience worse than the average muni course. Won't be returning anytime soon
Joke
Course was recently aerated, has sand all over the greens, and the starter is pretty ridiculous honestly and doesnt seem to care about your tee time, old guy needs to retire… showed up to the range 40 minutes before the tee time and he said “screw the range, you gotta go out now”….
Go elsewhere for $80
