Stony Hard!
Not sure if the name comes from the terrain and ground condition the course is built upon. Very hard ground makes your ball bounce high and carry far but good luck finding balls. I lost many perfectly hit balls.
Many par4s are mostly dog legs, placed tightly together with adjacent par 4s doglegs. Be aware of golf balls from other courses flying at you. Green is somewhat fast but in good condition. Many fairways are patchy and have many bare spots.
Course in rough condition
Fairways hard as a rock. Every fairway was dead due to lack of water. It's a shame they are letting the course go like this.
Fairways
Fairways were very hard and dry! Also, although the course was full when we finished at 3:45. When we went into the restaurant and was closing for the day. Ended going somewhere else for food and drinks!
Nice layout
Many holes with elevation changes. Nice layout good greens. Nice views. Fairway were a little burnt. Could use more water.
baked fairways
told they only watered greens and tee. had great distances due to hard fairways but also caused running into rough if a little off line. Great greens.
Very Slow Round
Waited on every hole. Took 4 1/2 hours to complete and had to skip the last two holes due to a crowd of waiting players.
Good value
I went back and forth with how to review this one. It’s not perfect or the most picturesque by any means, but by the time I was finishing up my round I started to be won over by it. First, the pace of play on the front 9 was awful, but I can probably attribute that to it being a mild Sunday afternoon + Father’s Day. Took an hour to get thru the first 3 holes. Back 9 went a lot quicker which helped. The layout was extremely frustrating at first. Almost every hole is some sort of dogleg with the most random trees popping up where you’d like to hit your tee shot. Wasn’t til after the round was finished I realized I played it totally wrong. Not a course where you are going to want to use your driver on every par 4/5. I like to use my driver and I’m stubborn so that resulted in a lot of time looking for balls that I didn’t see land. Expect to lose some because the rough can be deep and will not be easy to find. Greens/fairways were fine - not perfect but playable. All in all it was a good deal with a great location and certainly didn’t break the bank. Would like to play again and this time play correctly off the tee.
Stony Ford
Course in great condition, day after a strong storm with no standing water observed. Pace of play was good, very little wait time on this round.
Stony Ford
Course was in good condition and the pace of play was quite good for a weekday. Starter pushed us out early,, wasn’t quite warmed up. Show up loose and ready to play just in case. I appreciated getting out early, however, a few minutes might have made the day a little better in the long run.
